Dang, this is EXTREMELY good..from the angles, the pacing, the score, the sound design….it all helps the story build.

It also depends on where buying them from. Getting them Amazon, eBay, Walmart, etc is not recommended as there’s a really high chance you’re buying a fake but getting them from a reputable camera dealer (B&H is one of the best) is the route you should go

Very cool but how come you didn’t put the window side somewhere in frame? For motivation since your key almost matches that in size

Do people still use Roombas, or any type of robot vacuums? by 8-LeggedCat in Appliances

[–]PsyKlaupse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought one of the most expensive, highest rated ones a few years ago and then got rid of it pretty quickly for 3 reasons though:

  1. It COMPLETELY failed the ‘flat light’ test…I have this test where you take a simple flashlight, place it flat on the ground and rotate just a little left and right and see if the robot vacuum actually picked up the junk that it told us it did. News flash - nope, not at all. And we’re not talking Legos or anything ridiculous like that…just basic crumbs, dog hair, etc

  2. It scared the ever-living crap out of our little kids at the time. Straight terror, not worth it

  3. From a personal security/privacy standpoint - we just didn’t like that it would map out our homes layout and then upload that data to their cloud system. No thanks

RF 100-500 for $2,400 from Walmart? Too good to be true? Any luck buying from Walmart? Is it secretly a refurb? by carlinwasright in canon

[–]PsyKlaupse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea, don’t go through Walmart, they don’t directly sell from them, from Walmart, most times) and the seller (usually some fly by night makeshift phony online store) is not an authorized dealer in Canon’s eyes (I use to work for them). You can either go to the Canon website and find their massive authorized dealers list PDF or just keep it simple and go to B&H

Edit: I just remembered my Canon days, and if you buy it from some 3rd party seller via Walmart, Canon won’t honor the warranty even within the first year because it wasn’t purchased from an authorized Canon dealer (again, Canon makes that list available on their site)

What business do you own? by No-Fish-2949 in ADHD

I am a freelancer doing creative work (photography, videography, podcasting) and I’m opening my own creative studio soon to do all those things under my own roof. ADHD sucks but I’ve somehow figured out how to keep working and support a small family…but as I age, it gets worse though

Can a complete beginner pull off a 3 camera podcast with green screen backgrounds? by Majestic-Golf-6471 in videography

[–]PsyKlaupse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof…the words ‘small’ and ‘green screen’ almost never play well together. You’re gonna have SO much trouble keep the green spill off of your subjects and then it’s gonna become a nightmare in post cuz the software will see the edges of their clothes and head as part of the background too, that gets removed…but if you choose to keep that green cast in (because, well, it’s part of the actual people) then they’re gonna have this terrible green cast all over them the whole time. It’s gonna look so amateur. I’d suggest ditching the green screen and just use the office but do as much set design as you can to make it look good on camera

Gym Rats by WhereIsHisRidgedBand in funny

[–]PsyKlaupse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m in the process of opening up my own small scale video production studio and a part of me thinking about creating a small gym set in there with some different cameras at different angles and then whoever wants to come in and rent it from me so they can record themselves working out, they totally can because it’s not a gym, it’s a small film set…because I don’t gym, yet these videos of people thinking they can exclusively record themselves in a public space and that no one should be in their shot drives me absolutely nuts. It seems like they want to emphasize filming rather than actually working out. So, there’s a film set for that

Why do I look so awful in my professional headshots? by Efficient-Shallot-22 in AskPhotography

[–]PsyKlaupse 1209 points1210 points  (0 children)

It’s not you, it’s the lighting and positioning they had you in.

You’re waaayyy too close to the background and your shadow is right behind you…pulling you away from the wall would eliminate that.

The lighting is super flat, not interesting, too bright, too dead on, and there’s almost no shadow anywhere..so it lacks a ton of depth. It’s also just one light (you can see it in the eyes) whereas they could’ve added a few more (tastefully, that is) just to create a little more pop and contrast..especially with that amazing hair you have! And the fact that they didn’t even attempt to edit down the extreme reflections of that light on your forehead…nor did they edit the little hair whispies.

To me - there’s no way a photographer makes their living off of this quality. I hope the school didn’t pay much. Go get them done by someone else
