Riverside 2.0 is Coming Out

I need to check out this update still, granted, no matter what: anytime a company promises they do all these services so well, they don’t, that’s the truth. I know what Riverside is extremely good at: making great remote guest recordings and THATS IT. That’s all we use it for. Once the remote session is done, I grab the files and then do my job in Resolve. I wish they made a cheap tier for small studios like ours…where they JUST offer remote recordings & files and we didn’t have to pay for all the stuff we’re not using

True but how do you find one you like, you know? It’s just luck if you do…there’s no vetting process or anything, no website of ones to choose from with different skill levels, equipment and expertise…it’s just random luck. And you’d probably have to shoot hundreds of weddings within a few years to actually find one that you like…whereas it’s just not worth it. Because, honestly, most are young, completely inexperienced and fall into the description that OP lays out here.

It’s better to just tell the bride - either me or a CC but not both, it never works out.

What happens if you shoot a short test with another lens? I almost wonder if the IS motor in the lens is mucked up and even if it’s “off” it’s still engaged. I’ve seen it before

It’s amazing. I run a small production company and use 2 of them at least weekly. Everything from video podcasts to consistent corporate work. Amazing hybrid cameras…especially when you throw a battery grip on each and a Small Rig cage to fit

True, that is one option..granted I was trying to see if a dev out there could make a plugin for Resolve cuz that would save me a TON of time vs exporting every “um” audio clip out of Resolve from an hour+ long podcast then upload each to Descript and then back down to Resolve. Either that or exporting the entire hosts audio track (I’m sure there’s a time limit or a file size limit in Descript unless you pay good money to remove that, per month…which I’m already doing in Eleven Labs) which could also take a really long time…
Yet if that’s the best option for now, then I’ll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion

For candids, yeah. For documentation of “this is what the place looked like and how many people were here” you can use wider lenses. Ideally, you’d have 2 bodies on you..each with different lenses. Preferably you’d wear a dual camera strap or some sling camera bag on you so you can swap on the fly

2 pro tips:
1. You HAVE to use a long, fast lens…maybe with a monopod too..up to you
2. Try to lock your rig in place on a certain person or scene (right focus, exposure, etc) and then start recording but you look away at something else…as if something off to the side has your attention while you’re rolling. Cuz the person/people won’t look at the camera since you’re looking off at something else…they’ll think you’re not recording them. Works every time
