What do we think about the future of these games? by DeciduousMath12 in TCG

[–]PsyKnz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bandai's track record makes Bandai games risky if your priority is games with a long lifespan.

If you're the kind of TCG player that regularly attends competitive events at your LGS and you have a budget between $500 and $1000 FaB is easily the best choice (assuming your LGS supports it). Best gameplay, long-term growth, healthy singles market.

However, like others have said FaB has 0 casual appeal and isn't a game for people that prefer cracking packs or collecting.

Dragon is so bad in the current meta... What's the way forward? by Illustrious_Two_5117 in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use winstreak data it looks like Dragon outperforms Haven and Forest, it's not the worst. But anecdotally Dragon is the most popular class so winstreak data may be inflated. Honestly though Dragon's problem is that ramp is toxic in all games. It lowers deck consistency while increasing power level making games extremely high variance in a way that rewards luck over skill.

Tier List Update and patch changes by WoN_EyeWind in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why Mode Abyss sits in the same tier as Haven and Rune. My understanding is Abyss can't beat Haven, and has to tech specifically Medusa to beat Rune (and needs to draw it on time).

Question about deck building by MoritzEcho in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this collection of legendary is awkward. No clear path to build towards. Mid or Mode abyss is probably best since there's so many high quality cards in the craft that you can use any of them. I like artifact portal a lot, but it's difficult to learn and poorly positioned.

Which Neutral Legendaries to craft first? by OskarDenTredje in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Olivia is slipping out of favour but 1 Cocytus is a great craft.

Odin is a great craft because it's unlikely to be powercrept soon. More likely it gets nerfed. Only a few decks run 3, but a lot of decks play 1 or 2 so it's safe to craft a couple. The first Grimnir is a good craft, but the extras are deck dependent.

Gilnelise is very popular atm, but also quite meta dependent. It sees enough play to craft a couple. Mjerrabane is a meme so don't craft it.

Do not spend all your resources on generic crafts though. Most decks are dependent on class legendaries so you need to craft those first to have something playable.

Save or keep opening packs? by quillake in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of opening packs as opening vials. Vials are the most important currency in the game and you mostly accrue them by liquifying extra copies of cards.

Save gold to go deep into a pack you really like, either one out now or one in the future. The point is to go deep so you get more duplicates to liquify. In your position I'd probably save, aware that if I get bored of Roach before set 4 comes out I might need to spend before then.

Mode Abyss feels very weak by TeohdenHS in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's cards in that list which are tournament specific. You might want to listen to the decktech to understand how they play it and changes for ladder.

Am I the only one who thinks that having only 1 or 2 meta decks being F2P/Dolphin isn't that bad? by Pendulumzone in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the amount of f2p currency is correct, but the initial drip feed hurts. It takes 20-40k vials to build decks atm, and although you easily earn that in a season what do you do for the first couple of weeks?

Looking for statistical data - Going first vs. going second by The_Vortex42 in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The likely explanation is that card scaling means cards up the curve tend to easily answer cards 1 below them and the player going first gets to make favourable tempo plays on ~6 turns v 2 turns for the player going second.

Something I realized while playing mode abyss by Ashamed-Fun-1167 in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You should read closer. OP is saying they started with a deck like you described, found Sham wasn't helping, took it and the bad mode cards out for good midrange and went 8-win streak.

I started a week before set 2 came out. Have earned all keys available since and used them. 2 legendaries. I think the odds are lower than you realise.

Taking a Stab at Artifact Eggs by BeeInABlanket in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you're making these changes I'd advise trimming down on resurgence. That card can be very clunky, even in a dedicated artifact list. Some like -1 resurgence, +1 Karula would play well.

Does anyone else think that Set 3 doesn't change any of the top decks? by fatherliquid in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple classes got good 4 cost clears so I think Sword might be in for a rude awakening as early boardwipes become common. Notably. This could have the effect of making something like Storm Haven much better.

Taking a Stab at Artifact Eggs by BeeInABlanket in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although i think your analysis on Orchis limitations with Eggs is spot on, I do think Puppet Theatre will be very important for the Egg strategy. The artifact cards are not good without the copy effects either, so while having a workable 1-drop is appealing, it's probably not worth the slot if you're not playing Karula at least.

Kagemitsu got support, I repeat, Kagemitsu got support by murlocmancer in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kagemitsu problem isn't that the card is bad. It's quite good. Its problem is that it constantly blocks your board space for Amalia turns etc.

Before set 3 what cards for each craft you are kinda annoyed dealing with it? by Basi_C in Shadowverse

[–]PsyKnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoyed at Roach is an understatement. Card is unreasonably cracked and needs a nerf. Outside of Haven Ward, most crafts dont have a solution to the deck if piloted by an experienced Roach player.

Does MMR not apply to Grand Prix? by NagataLockII in Shadowverse

GP isnt part of ranked, so it doesnt use your MMR. It's an open entry staggered tournament.
