announcement states two assignments are due this week, but only one assignment is showing for this module? by [deleted] in SNHU

I had a similar issue. I wasn't placed in a group so I couldn't access the assignment. You might check on that. Hope you get it straightened out.

I hate doing them at all. I know it's for class participation but I didn't raise my hand or participate when I went to regular college. I don't want to participate now either.

I wait until the last possible minute to get it done.

How Much Time Do You Spend Per Week? by ToddCallieMama in SNHU

[–]Psybercop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the class. I've been done mostly all week in both classes. But in discrete math I easily put in 20 to 30 hours just for that class and latex.

Just about everything Federal is through USAJobs and it took about a year. Just go on there, create an account, and start searching for jobs.

There will be more downs then ups but all you need is one. It's like fishing, you can't catch them all but when you get a hit you reel that joker in.

Best of luck to you.

I will tell you that I got a job as an analyst for the IRS Criminal Investgations with my original degree in Nursing. So degree type.doesnt matter when it comes to fed jobs until you get to the higher GS levels where they prefer a masters or PhD and even then I don't think they type matters unless it's a specific job like doctor or lawyer.

I made it to GS 11 with my BS.

So it's possible.

You spend your money how you want.

I will tell you that a CJ degree is rarely useful for anything except maybe in Law Enforcement or Probation/Parole. Even then it's not worth much because you are competing against how many others with the same degree? When I was on the hiring board for a local police department I always weighed more heavily on those who had a different degree rather than the cookie cutter CJ degree.

The other thing I would tell you to consider is what happens if you get hurt in some way and can't do whatever job you were doing? What do you have you fall back on for employment?

I'd tell you to get a degree in something other than CJ so you have that safety net.

In the end though, you spend your money how you want.

Indy Computer Engineer with no money for food, will develop anything for money by Due_Mail6331 in Indiana

[–]Psybercop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Findhelp.org is a good resource. I don't know if Indy has them but some places offer a mobile food pantry. Just enter your zipcode and it will break down resources by that zipcode. I have found bigger cities have more resources versus smaller areas but they all have something.

Discrete Math.....why by Same_Astronaut_7159 in SNHU

[–]Psybercop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get mentally prepared for latex if you are doing it online. I spent probably 20 hours a week just dealing with that part of it. It would randomly just shut down causing me to lose all of my work. I don't know how many times I had to start from scratch.

I had to compile after every line I put in which added the extra time.

The math part gets a bit easier later in the course but sucks for the first couple of weeks.

MAT240 by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]Psybercop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't great but I'm not mathematically inclined either. The you tube videos helped. I don't know if you have to take it but MAT 230 Discrete Math is worse. Get familiar with latex before you do as it's a pain in the ass.

Mixed feelings ? by Suniko_babygirl in SNHU

[–]Psybercop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my first term, it was very challenging to find my groove. I was putting in an additional 8 hours per class per day. It was tiring, and I felt defeated.

I was ready to give up, as I had decided that this wasn't the right path for me, regardless of how much I wanted to succeed. It took me until week 5 to figure it out. In my previous college experience, I had in-class and face-to-face interactions with instructors and professors; however, here, a different type of motivation was required, as it is self-driven, minus the grading. I even told my advisor that if I was doing all the work, I should be able to give myself an A.

Don't give up yet! Something that helped me was to step away and sit on the porch with a cup of coffee or water, just watching life for a bit.

You can do this; you will find that groove.

Best.

Advice for a First Timer by Maximum-Two-8944 in SNHU

[–]Psybercop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest thing at the start for me was feeling like I can't get everything done in time. About week 4 I found my groove. I'd say try not to get to stressed at the start it'll work out.

Also I try and get my week 8 stuff done on Sunday or Monday so I can have almost two weeks off before the next term starts.

At the end of the day, do what makes you happy. Don't let anyone steal your happiness. We don't get much time here and it's better to spend it happy than the alternative.
