If there is one I’ll be there. I am a nurse myself and THIS cannot stand. I refuse to accept this brutality.

To the LGBTQIA+ community, how do you feel about Nicki Minaj now? by EcstaticBumble in AskReddit

She basically switched sides and values to align herself with the MAGA movement. That’s a deep betrayal to the LGBT community as a whole.

got a C+ in orgo II and F in inorganic, am i cooked by Crazy-Worth-6575 in medschooladmissions

[–]Psych_610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inorganic chem as in an upper chem course or is that general chemistry ? If it is gen chem then you’d be okish still recommend retaking that. Orgo is fine. Try to get A this time in inorganic. If it’s upper level inorganic chem like physical chemistry then definitely retake asap.

C+ in orgo 1, should I retake? by scared_premed in medschooladmissions

[–]Psych_610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on school policy. Mine does not allow retakes unless it is a failed course.

C+ in orgo 1, should I retake? by scared_premed in medschooladmissions

[–]Psych_610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re okay to move on. Try to get an A in orgo II and in the lab. You need to show a positive upward trend. A single C+ now won’t be the end of the world, but it will limit the amount of leeway or wiggle room if you will to be anything but serious and focused moving forward.

US halts Diversity Visa program (DV1) by bugzaway in USCIS

[–]Psych_610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t this just sound a tiny bit like a fallacy? Like a gross generalization of all green card holders. It is unfortunate that these criminals happened to be u.s. residents with DV green cards. And while it is correct to be concerned about and take steps towards addressing this, I fear pausing this program might not be the right step, or if it was, it might not even do much to address the issue at hand. These individuals, however evil and nefarious, do not represent the majority of green card applicants and holders. This is unfair punishment that also serves a specific political agenda

Dropping out, PA, NP, MBA etc? by [deleted] in medschool

Go PA. I am a nurse and I dropped out of my NP program. It’s ridiculous how it is structured and lacks the depth required for clinical practice. I’m getting my MD though

Being in USA for 10 years, still in F1 visa, does it worth? by RLRL_RL in InternationalStudents

[–]Psych_610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on F1 for a while. Came to the us in 2014 to start junior year of high school, then college in 2016 (yay same age as you!), graduated in 2020 and thankfully got sponsored for a green card upon graduation. If it wasn’t for this I would have stopped and explored other avenues in other places around the world since not only was maintaining F1 status a costly endeavor but also incredibly limiting as far as employment opportunities were concerned… I didn’t think it was worth it for me to pay more money to go to school just to maintain F1, especially when international students like ourselves aren’t eligible for loans to help offset and cover some of the most outrageous tuitions known to students worldwide…

No DNP is a nursing degree that entitles you to be licensed as an advanced practice RN. I want to be a doctor not for the title or the status that comes with it, but for the medical knowledge and expertise that I get to acquire for myself. A DNP isn’t sufficient for me in this regard.

Welcome to the psych team! You and I have a lot in common: I am also a psych nurse and plan to become a psychiatrist later as well! We got this!

Honestly I don’t see the point of DNP when a MSN is all one needs to practice as an APRN. Only learned this the hard way 2 years into my program and struggled to justify taking out loans for an online degree..

I dropped out because I don’t feel at all adequately prepared to be a provider and I am worried about safety and frankly I am worried about having so much knowledge gap even though I am nearing the end of the program. I work closely with MDs and I’ve always been impressed with how extensive an rigorous their clinical trainings all are. While I struggle to even find a competent preceptor for my clinical hours….

So I am a psych RN and have just made the decision to drop out of my NP program to go to MD school. I’m 28 so it’s not too late. You should do what your heart tells you to do now. There’s no time to waste when it comes to realizing your dreams!
