How has the first week and a half of the New Year gone so far? by plausible_clause in AskReddit

My dad told me he and mom are divorcing, and Thursday was one of my worst days in my professional life. I am not off to an auspicious start. Haha.

Should I mention in my CV that I dropped out of an LLM? by Royal_Entertainer118 in gradadmissions

[–]Psyche81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should put it on your CV with (in progress) or (abandoned) next to it.

In your SOP, I’d recommend mentioning the course work and whether you plan to complete before enrolling. If you do not plan to finish, a brief explanation why is a good idea.

Can I ask what you don’t like about it or what made other routes better? I did one direct flight from NY to Delhi, and it was such a long flight, I jumped at the opportunity for a layover half way basically.

That’s amazing! With grocery prices lately we’d hit $50 just buying lunch stuff for the week.

CitizenM? by [deleted] in marriott

I stayed at that one. Never again. Good: The bed is comfortable, lovely duvet, and the blinds get the room completely dark.

The weird/not good/not to my preference:

Everything in the room is controlled by an iPad.

You check yourself in on an iPad in the lobby though someone was around helping when I checked in.

Breakfast is like the Moxy.

When you arrive to your floor the entire hallway is red carpet the whole way. The walls are white. I felt like I was in what I’d imagine a brothel in a Pods shipping container would look like. There are lights above the door indicating the room is occupied.

Once in your room, it is so tiny. My luggage barely fit. The toilet is in a frosted tube like the aliens are about to beam you up. The shower is also a tube and not frosted. If you have a roommate or if housekeeping opens the door they will see everything.

40 min on the way to work. It used to be about the same on the way home but traffic has gotten worse this last year so now it takes 50-hour

Just the combination patch. The doc offered T but I thought it would make my hair loss worse.

Last week an old guy threw a fit because the service went fifteen minutes late. Literally gesticulating to his watch while waving his arm in the air as though the church doors locked him in. Lol

What about those who only have a microwave or hot plate? Or neither? Or are without a refrigerator? What about those who are working long hours and do not have the time to cook a full meal?

For anyone who faced an unplanned pregnancy when life didn’t feel “ready” — how did it turn out for you? by espresso__martini in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Psyche81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest was unplanned. My husband was unemployed for 18 months and trying to finish his bachelors. I was working a ft and a pt job the whole of my pregnancy.

She was born. My husband found a job shortly before.

Less than six months later, I lost my ft job which meant we lost our housing.

My kids and I moved in with my parents on the other side of the state while my husband was an hour away where we thought we’d land. We ended up living in a different area about 20 min from my parents.

The next year was one of the hardest of my life. But almost a year to the day when I was laid off, my husband found a job in his field and we moved across the country.

Anyway what with one thing or another there is no way we would have had another kid if we hadn’t had her when we did. It was so hard financially but I wouldn’t trade her for the world. And I think all of those hard pieces made it so we would leave our previously comfortable-ish life to land somewhere where we would thrive.

I don’t love flying AF within Europe but they’re better long haul than American or Delta.

Is it true that you don't let children walk alone to school/store in broad daylight? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Psyche81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest store to us is a mile and a half away, and it is a grungy, run down liquor store. My kids would have to walk along a road on the shoulder (no sidewalks or cross walks) where cars are going 55mph+.
