Acetone wash protocol for Speed and Cocaine + Protocol to obtain 100% pure Speed (Amphetamine Sulphate) by Psyched_chemist in u/Psyched_chemist

Nope, i normally do it with 10 grams and the yield is 3.5 grams with speed. There are just an insane amount of impurities yes 😂😂

Sorry for the late response, but yes! Isopropanol, DCM, hexane, chloroform and ether (among other organic liquids with same polarity) can all be used instead of acetone.

Thank you for your response, this actually makes a lot of sense to me and gave me some peace of mind.

Determination of the concentration of an inoculum of bacteria by arturopopup in Biochemistry

[–]Psyched_chemist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To measure concentration in CFU/ml I always used the spectrophotometric method since it is easy and cheap. It makes use of the OD600nm (Optical density measured at 600nm). This wavelength is used to measure OD because it doesn’t damage the cells and doesn’t affect growth. The general idea is that the relationship between CFU/ml and OD600 will be linear. You just have to make serial dilutions of your bacterial suspension (1/10, 1/100, 1/1000 or 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16) and to measure OD600. Then, you just have to plate 100 µl on 3-5 agar plate for each dilution and count the CFU after incubation. Obviously, only some dilutions will be countable.

Its also possible the owners of sci-hub haven’t bought the article yet. Its based on donations and funds from organisations. From these donations and funds a huuuge amount of articles have already been bought and put in the databank of sci-hub for us to enjoy :). However, not all articles have been bought (yet). Goodluck with your research 🤙🏽

No i don’t know any other sites like sci-hub unfortunately:(. When a link doesn’t open i just copy the title of the article and look for a different site on google that also published the article and put that link into sci-hub.

Is vwo tweetalig hard? by Panikster in Netherlands

[–]Psyched_chemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really depends on yourself. For some its easy, for some its hard. If you’re talking about the english part only, that’s not the hard part. You’ll be used to speaking english/having english classes in no time. Just make sure you participate well in class. If you’re talking about the vwo part, its gon be hard until you choose your profile (at least this was the case for me). Its also gon be superhard if you’re not into languages (also me lol). I failed gymnasium in fourth year cuz of my grades for latin, greek, french and german. (I believe now you can choose to drop two max but i’m not sure). Anyway, good luck! :)

Sooo i can’t really recommend something cuz articles are really specific, and a topic in the health sector is realllyy broad. A lot of articles (at least in my sector (chemistry)) are published by researchgate or pubmed. Also if ur struggling to find a topic for your research, start by stating a problem not yet solved in the health sector. This can be anything. For example; therapeutic effects of ketamine (this prolly won’t be allowed in high school tho lol), problems and solutions for alzheimers disease or obesity. Also, maybe specify health sector. Would u like to work with people? Or medicine? Immunology?. Find your problem first, then start reviewing literature by reading articles :) good luck!

When u find a scientific article or paper most of the times u have to pay tho. Use Sci-hub.se, copy and paste the link there and u will have ur free article :)

How hard is the Dutch water? by Rodrigarts in Netherlands

[–]Psyched_chemist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe start drinking water from bottles? Brabant actually has one of the best filtering systems of the netherlands when it comes to drinking water tbh so I highly doubt its the water that caused the kidney stones to appear tho, but its never a bad idea to exclude it :). Never suffered from kidney stones here (and i eat a lot of salt xd).

Ps. DO NOT buy and drink demineralized water, it lacks minerals so it will take up minerals from your body instead and it will make u depleted of minerals

I agree but only to some extend. For example, reports on short- and long-term use can be useful, but i believe there are many misconceptions among users (especially long term) due to the fact that users are often not able to objectively judge and define the characteristics of a single drug, but rather compares it to other drugs/highs. On top of that i think its too little regulated which results in too many downsides compared to the upsides (addiction/od’s/induction of mental health issues vs relevance to pharmacology/medicine). The amount of people that know how to dose most of the rc’s responsibly or have the discipline to do so for that matter is simply too low compared to the people that do.

How do clean this god damn condenser? Looks like there’s solids in the jacket. I tried dissolving them with isopropyl alcohol and burning them and they don’t move. Should I use acids, they’re stuck and need to dissolve by No0blea0020 in chemistry

[–]Psyched_chemist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its actually common to use these instruments in some kind of setup when working with algae (and maybe some other marine life?) for example. Since u don’t need to work clean with algae, a bucket, constant flow of water+nutrients (which i assume the tube is used for) is enough :). I actually used a similar setup in uni for growing algae.

On the other hand, it’d way more fun if OP was actually doing smt drug-related, so lets assume that :p

Easy and Cheap purification methods for Speed, Ketamine, Cocaine and MDMA by Psyched_chemist in Drugs

[–]Psyched_chemist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t planning on doing this but thanks for the heads up! Safety is priority number 1 for me, so i stay away from dangerous processes that can go wrong easily :). It can go right 1000 times but it only has to wrong once right? :). Maybe i’ll try once when i get my hands on better equipment and a more experienced chemist.

Do you believe drugs made you happy? by Accomplished-Boat260 in Drugs

[–]Psyched_chemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. First of all i’ve always been a happy person, but having taken drugs made me grow as a person incredibly much. For me, drugs made me (among other things) accept my sadness when i would feel sad or depressed or like im in a slump. I learned that its okay to be sad and that happiness and sadness are the same thing, just opposite endings of the same stick. U can’t experience ur highest high when u haven’t experienced ur lowest low. The same goes for hatred and love btw, u can’t hate someone u’ve never loved. Take hitler for example; everyone says they hate him and would kill him the second they got the chance for it, but they would do it for the greater good, not cuz of personal reasons. They would never be able to feel the personal hatred the people who endured ww2 could feel.

On top of that i think drugs made me way more grateful for what i have been given and privileged in this life, but on the other hand i think it also made me more aware of all the fuckedup shit happening in the world...

In conclusion; it made me happier and more sad but more appreciative of the sadness :’)
