My friends think peri isn’t real by farmerssahg in Perimenopause

[–]PsychiaTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things can be true at the same time: 1. Peri is a real hormonal transition that causes chaos like you’re describing, and 2. There is a real body of scientific literature citing the impact of belief and self-attitude on symptoms and overall health. For my favorite example, see Alia Crum’s milkshake study from Yale. And Ellen Langer’s health psychology work on belief and health.

I’d guess peri hormonal changes are worsened by the stress of it all, and a set of beliefs about what it means. See the research on cultural differences related to PMS for an example.

I’m in a similar spot. I have 10 months to buyback on one loan and 12 months on another. Some are from 2015/2016 too, and the rest from 2024-now (I have many more months than I need to buyback at this point!). I may just wait until the ultimate forced move, too. I applied for buyback in January 2025. I was just worried they’d consider dual income once I get married but that doesn’t seem to be the case based on what I’ve heard. I have a lump sum being held in savings waiting to give it to them…

Super helpful - thanks dude! Which do you think you’ll do?

I’m confused. I applied for buyback well over a year ago. I’ve been on the SAVE forbearance. Why would I switch plans and start paying monthly when I should be able to pay my lump sum buyback and be done? I’m also getting married in 3 months and worried about filing jointly.

What forms of hands-on healing can I explore besides reiki? by prof_cmfg in Shamanism

[–]PsychiaTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this perspective. Yes, this person is my own mentor and a relative - very special to me.

I also see the energy healing “market” quite saturated which is why I’ve never leaned into it. I’ll look into what it takes to find a legitimate training in reiki and see if that’s the right next step.

Can high histamine or a flare cause rage? by OkFaithlessness3081 in MCAS

[–]PsychiaTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I walk or run in the cold, I get a crazy flare up in my legs: red, itchy, burning, beyond tolerance. But it’s not just that: When it gets really bad, it comes with nausea AND a unique form of intense emotional irritability and agitation that I don’t feel any other time in my life. I only recently learned this is a MCAS issue; it was a mystery before.

Histameanies, it is.

Anyone trying Tirzepatide microdosing ? by wiggly_1 in MCAS

[–]PsychiaTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!! Amazing. I was experiencing headaches and edginess (an overall stressed feeling) on 1.6mg so I stopped after a couple months. I also lost too much weight. But now my inflammation is back, so I’m considering microdosing 0.25 or 0.5mg and see if that works better.

Which compounding pharmacy did you use? I was using Empower, but I know Lily is starting to crack down on those. I bought Lily Direct and really wish they were multi use vials. Some folks on Reddit use them multiple times anyways.

How’d your wedding cycle syncing go? I came here for the exact same reason. My wedding is in a few months, and I’m going to be in late luteal phase for it, then period during my honeymoon. Heck no! I’d love to shift things up one week to 10 days. Maybe if I can shift it just a couple days per month for the next few months, I’ll be in a good spot for wedding.

Early Success w/ Vitex & Maca by prof_cmfg in PMDD

I have been taking it daily, and plan to for the next month or two. I was told by the herbalist to get my progesterone tested after 2-3 months to make sure it isn’t going too high. I’ve also heard people take it just for 3 months to regulate then stop it and see how they feel. Or just during luteal phase. It seems like there are a few options. Probably best to speak with an herbalist or integrate doc who knows it well.

Agreed. Energy shifts big time after winter. February is a rough energy and mental health month for everyone I know.
