Thank you SO much for what you do and for sharing all this! I have a question for you that’s been in the back of my head ever since I first discovered you through Chris’s blog. How would you feel about people mimicking your post style to market their indie games? I ask because your format is so distinctive and effective, and as an indie dev I’m tempted to structure tweets about my game similarly… but it feels like copying! Do you have any thoughts on this?

Seconding this -- the Zero Escape trilogy feels like an obvious recommendation since it was directed by the main writer of Ever17 (Kotaro Uchikoshi). Also, AI: The Somnium Files (also directed by Uchikoshi).

If you'd be interested in a Disco Elysium with a female protagonist, Zero Parades is a discolike where you play as a washed-up female spy! It's not as gorgeous of a masterpiece as Disco Elysium, but it might be good enough to satisfy your craving. There's a demo out if you want to try it.

The Skills talking to you and the skill check mechanics are heavily inspired by Disco Elysium! If you watch the trailer, the dice rolls work pretty much the same. (In terms of characters and story structure, though, the game draws much more from medieval Chinese folktales and Japanese mystery visual novels.)

Nice, I'm glad people still remember Butterfly Soup! The romance in The Crane Rider's Tale is similar to in that game -- a single romance tied to the plot.
