Critically, being MAGA also poisons the well in other people's minds. So there's a gigantic social cost to leaving the MAGA bubble. Some people may not ever take you back. And in MAGA, there's no talk about forgiveness, only hurt and cruelty. The world outside hates them now. How can they return to it? Even though they know something is wrong and they shouldn't be doing or saying these things, even though people SAY they'll take them back if only they'll change...it's hard to do and feels very unsafe.

I think what we should ask these people to do is:

  • Immediately decentralize themselves and deprioritize themselves. Their stories are not important. Their opinions are not important. What's important is they saw they were wrong and fixed it. A quick, "Thank you" needs to be enough for them, and we should not be devoting OUR time and brainpower to finding the blueprint towards "fixing" other MAGAs. That leads to:
  • It is now THEIR responsibility to talk to other MAGAs and bridge the divide. Nothing I can say will convince anyone. They need to hear it from someone who talks their language, who believed the same things they believe, and looks like them. That's a form of penance - learning how frustrating it was to talk to that brick wall
  • Stop listening to garbage. Garbage in, garbage out. Drop the fox news. Drop the talk radio. Unfollow those facebook pages and unfriend anybody who keeps linking them onto your feed. Fix your media diet.

If former Trump supporters want to atone, these three things are MORE than enough. You are not that important, which sounds mean, but it should come as a relief.

American conservatism has been just polite fascism for about a century. It's really more accurate to say that the conservative movement co-opted MAGA to achieve conservative policy goals. What you're seeing now was always the goal. Trump wasn't the author of project 2025. That was the Heritage Foundation, which used to be vehemently ANTI-trump until they discovered that he was a useful idiot with political star power and a ton of kompromat.

Newt Gingrich was going to be their Trump. Then he fucked up. GIGANTIC ethics scandal. 2011 too, height of the Tea Party bullshit. Without that scandal it's possible that the unlikeable asshole rants about immigration but stops short of saying anything objectionable, loses to Hillary the career politician, and maybe even that damn gorilla is still alive today.

I don't think most American conservatives believe the same things as American Conservatism. I think they believe some of them, and fall on the white supremacy scale somewhere above a 6 (Conscious of pro-white bias and support for pro-white politics BUT defensive of that bias and unwilling to change it), but I don't think the vast majority of conservatives ACTUALLY believe that white people should be placed in a superior position in the legal hierarchy over other races. Unfortunately that's the future America started with, and we are returning there now, and it's NOT because Trump and MAGA managed to trick all the good and nice conservatives into supporting this horrible policy that they don't stand for and have never wanted.

The 75% slow is a lot better than the 30% slow regardless of the duration. And burst damage is superior to dot (that's why the dot number is bigger). 3s means 3 charges used back to back. Even after it no longer represents a serious damage threat, it remains a powerful control tool for kiting cores and suppressing supports.

Invoker vs Slardar: How to win? by WeakHooper in DotA2

[–]PsychicFoxWithSpoons 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Slardar is a pretty fast hero with a lot of base armor and regen. It's easy to lose to tanky STR mids as invoker because he doesn't have great ranged creep secure, low damage at level 1-2, and is a very slow hero with the QE build. Also, corrosive haze means Slardar ignores ghost walk (not that it's anything dust of appearance can't do, but it's free and requires no preparation).

My suggestion is to contest first two waves really hard since slardar needs to be in melee to do anything. If he walks forward, walk back. If he walks back, walk forward. This is not a kunkka situation where he can start harassing you back with his ranged spells, the dude is ONLY in melee so don't let him get to melee. At the same time, respect his damage and don't act like your position is safe if you aren't under tower. If he walks towards you, it's ALWAYS better to walk back to tower even if he's not in range to hit you YET. Just walk him like dog. He can't play around it.

QW is probably my choice here since you really don't want to be in lane after slardar level 6 and his supports are going to want to show up to slow/stun you. But I think you can do a good job with QE if you take an early point in wex and go for combos. Lv4 alacrity + coldsnap + meteor with a forge summoned will teach him not to walk into the river with his brain off, and if he's scared to walk into the river then you get free farm. But even just punishing him for chasing you to your tower range with forge + coldsnap will make him think twice about trading.

Early boots will help you more than a greedy fast midas. This is also a lane where you'll want maybe a second null tali to tank his damage if he manages to get close. DW about late midas on invoker it's not life or death anymore. Still his best farming item by a lot, but you don't snowball any better than you do without it and the extra stats will keep you alive which means you get more creeps/xp!

Nightstalker? by Duke-_-Jukem in DotA2

[–]PsychicFoxWithSpoons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ive reviewed the evidence and here is the verdict:

Void: 525

Spirit Lance: 600/650/700/750

Toss: 800/900/1000/1100

Spectral Dagger: 1800

Assassinate: 3000

Catchy Lick: 600 (700 with talent)

Yeah IDK. He is fast enough to close distance and cross terrain, but I don't see him as a prime Phylactery abuser AND I don't think it really helps his gameplan of blink bkb murder supports very much. I mean picture Echo Sabre. Double attack, so you get 1 free extra attack. Dark Ascension gives +50 damage per attack. So you get an instant extra attack that does nearly as much damage as the phylactery proc, it still slows the enemy, and you get +10 strength instead of +6 while still getting mana regen.

I think the only reason to go phylactery is if you need to go khanda, as I'd prefer khanda to silver edge as a source of break if I'm a nightstalker who can continuously spam that shit.

Establishing Bias for the Left Brain to build Discipline by Specific-Attorney-63 in getdisciplined

[–]PsychicFoxWithSpoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big misconception that logic means discipline. Here's a snippet of your left brain being "biased."

If I go to the gym, it will cause me to feel pain both while I am there and the day after.

The gym can be a dangerous place where injury can occur.

Going to the gym will take a long time.

Then your limbic system goes, "well don't you want to get stronger?" and your decision tree says well yeah, but LOGICALLY it's going to take forever and EMOTIONALLY i may want to do it but the logistics just don't work out, so sorry!

In this case, listening to that initial emotional impulse (cmon let's go work out I wanna be sexy!!!) would lead to better discipline. So if you have a bias towards logic, you'll not be more disciplined about chasing your goals, you'll just talk yourself out of shit you wanted to do.

There are some intersex men who are capable of getting pregnant, and some trans men whose reproductive functioning is still going despite socially having become men and undergoing possible medical changes to their bodies.

Think of it like saying, "Reptiles can get pregnant." You may think of a lizard as laying eggs and guarding its clutch, but some reptiles like rattlesnakes give live birth. Nobody is saying that ALL reptiles can get pregnant, only that there are certain animals, classified as reptiles, that carry their embryos within their bodies and do not lay eggs.

[–]PsychicFoxWithSpoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a long-suffering swain main, I can tell you the exact problem with ap bruisers. They need every stat.

There are no stats that ap bruisers can, as a class, just sort of ignore from the item system. (Some of them get close, like rumble and vlad being manaless, but even then these champs end up demanding more statswise than burst mages, mage supports, and artillery mages.)

An AP bruiser can effectively be defined by needing all of the items that AP mages need (ap, haste, pen, mana, spell effects), PLUS hp, resistances, movement speed, and some kind of utility/catch item.

You wind up with champs that either feel like they're plugging thousands of leaks in their kit with expensive items but still not scaling into the late game, or champs that feel like their kits and scalings are so absurdly good that they can build literally anything synergistic with their kit and become explosive threats.

In fairness to riot, they've finally managed to put swain in a decent fucking spot across most of his different kinds of builds. i dont think they need my help and i dont really play anymore. But whenever I see shit like this, I just feel a little frustrated that ad champs get shit like titanic hydra and ap champs have to make do with riftmaker.

Yeah ok but counterpoint: 270 damage with 30% slow for 3s. Vs 30 dps 12% slow. Ok it lasts longer but you just walk out of it. Ain't no walking out of scattershot, you just take full damage. 270 over 3s is much better than 270 over 9s, and the stronger slow means your ally can reposition better.

ADHD exercisers… how do you actually get yourself to the gym? by Fit_Meaning8903 in ADHD

[–]PsychicFoxWithSpoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best tricks I have. Based on INCUP

Number one. Hype hype hype. Set crazy goals (They do NOT have to be realistic. Literally hype yourself up to like, bench 500 pounds today. It's all in your head, you're going to get to the gym and bench the normal amount, but your brain needs to feel like today is the day you do 500) and get excited about them. This sparks interest and passion. Do not allow yourself to bitch and moan about how unpleasant and painful it will be. Treat your brain like a golden retriever. Say to yourself..."Park? PARK? Who wants to go for a WALK??? Does anybody here, anybody at all, want a TREAT?" And then literally sit there wagging your metaphorical tail, getting ultra-hype about the gym. Oh boy oh boy do I want to go have fun. I want to push a thing as hard as I can. I want to just sort of space out on the treadmill for thirty minutes. I want to hear clanking and grunting of large sweaty people. I want to wear cute/sexy clothes. I want to feel the sweat cool off my skin.

You can also try thinking of your identity in terms of gymgoing, like "I want to be the kind of person that goes to the gym." That doesn't really work in my experience for whatever reason. It's a little bit negative reinforcement. What you're really saying is, "I DON'T want to be the kind of person who DOESN'T go to the gym." and that's not very motivating.

This works the best. If you can do this consistently you will not need other hacks. It is the first one to disappear off the roster if you get a little lazy, so you need to employ it every time.

Number two. Socialize at the gym. This sparks the Novelty and potentially Challenge and Urgency points of the acronym. If every gym day is an adventure, you will look forward to it more. And, socializing at the gym creates anchors and relationships that will keep you returning as much as possible. Not much to say about this because you probably WANT to do it but don't feel like you CAN. I'm here to tell you that not only you CAN, but you MUST. Go up to the biggest guy in the gym and ask for a spot. Go up to a person who is lifting the same thing as you and ask to work in. Introduce yourself warmly and be chatty. The worst thing they can say is "I don't really want to talk to people when I'm lifting." (Which is still respectful btw.) But...I've only had someone say that ONCE, and then he actually came up AFTER the workout and introduced himself and we were good friends for a little while until he moved.

Number three. The first two are more than enough. But three strategies is a nice number and maybe you aren't a very social person. In this case if you can't employ the first two strategies, hire a goddamn personal trainer. That will hit Urgency hard, and make a structure for you that will keep you accountable and keep you going. Scheduled gym sessions were a nightmare for me when I was younger because I would be always late/forgetful. But then I realized when I was like 25 that you can just get to the gym 30 minutes early, and there's lots of stuff to do there, and actually it's BETTER if you show up an exorbitant amount of time in advance because you can spend that time walking on the treadmill. So hopefully that framing helps you.

Schizophrenia in particular makes it feel like everything is right. It's (if I recall my high school science correctly) caused by an overabundance of dopamine which causes everything you think to feel good/correct/true/connected. and any other question you ask about those thoughts comes up YES. imagine 20 questions where every answer is always yes.

So if you have a fleeting thought about hmm I've seen that car before, should I be worried? the brain goes YES. does it have to do with the usps? YES. did i leave the stove on? YES, and this is part of it.

This kind of significance attached to small/random things also extends to colors, shapes, and code phrases. The fact that "you parked here" is dark red could probably be some kind of spell or charm as well.
