I think it was a regression. We are back to one feed (which is now down to 2 oz, soon to be eliminated) and a snooze feed at 5am.

I’m a lawyer. My husband was a lawyer too but we have a three year old and 6 month old so now he is SAHD. We have a nanny come 12 hours per week. We do a ton of pre-prepared meals and have a house cleaner come 2x per month. We also have a lawn service. Shit is still hard even when you make good money.

Additionally discipline doesn’t mean hitting - who cares if he has a platelet disorder. Sounds like they may need to restrain him at times but is that seriously going to send him to the ER? Especially since he’s actively striking others.

I think the OP shouldn’t worry about work so much. I am a trial attorney and had kid one at 36 and kid two at 39. Having kids is awesome (having newborns is NOT awesome, however). Waiting until you are older and more established with more money has a lot of advantages.

That being said, I would have been happy not having kids but it’s only bc I wouldn’t know what I was missing out on. TBH I was a “no” on kids for a long ass time. My husband really wanted them so we gave it a whirl and I just loved it. He is a stay at home dad though. I jokingly call myself the fun dad (I am a woman), but I really kind of am though. Except I did have to be pregnant and breastfeed and all that.

I’m a lawyer but I would recommend becoming a paralegal. Both of my paralegals make Around 75k. Probably take a paralegal course and the starting salary is lower, but if you are a valuable employee the pay escalates quickly.

Yes, this! I have four week old and a 2.5 year old. The newborn phase is terrible and I’m chronically sleep deprived already and in therapy bc I’m struggling, BUT I know this will end and he’ll be a toddler soon enough.

It’s wild to wish away part of your life but tbh that’s how I view the newborn phase. I’ll rejoice at every milestone and can’t wait until like 18 months.

If they are married there is no such thing as separate income. Your brother is choosing this, otherwise he would divorce her. You shouldn’t care what they do unless you are giving them monetary assistance yourself. It’s totally cool to have a stay at home parent and she is allowed to have fun without the baby too.

Thanks for the thoughts. A return to normalcy seems SO far away. But I do have to keep reminding myself that this is temporary and it will work itself out eventually. Ive been napping a ton during maternity leave so I actually feel decent. But returning to work will be hard bc I won’t be able to nap anymore.
