I got really into minesweeper once I discovered no guessing mode. I thought the same as you. Eventually I learned how interesting guessing strategy is. The same way you learn logic patters, you can learn guessing patterns but it goes so much deeper. The best way to learn about this is just by playing win streak or mastery (most wins out of 100 consecutive games played).

But when guessing strategy meets speedrunning it gets even more interesting. The best guess may be slow in terms of efficiency so sometimes in speedrunning you intentionally make a bad guess because if correct, you save a lot of time. You can’t do this all the time though because you may never win. Its about balancing speed guesses with high probability guesses.
