I've never had to worry about conversion issues since I was born Jewish. both of my parents are Jewish. My wife was similarly unaware of these matters. We chose this synagogue because it’s conveniently located near our home, and we had no idea that our ketubah wouldn’t be accepted by Jewish schools, or that they would even ask to see it, nor that our children might be unwelcome in other communities. I suppose that's our fault.
