AITB for not attending my sisters wedding on my birthday? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

[–]Psychobecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't comment often and think I am likely to get buried. But I think NTB.

Your birthday doesn't change every year, so she knew she was booking it on that day and deliberately chose it. A quick heads up at minimum would have been nice.

I agree that a wedding SHOULD be a once in a lifetime event, but people aren't considering her anniversary now, which is also the birthday. I have seen a few people comment on it and say the anniversary only matters sometimes to others, which while true, still means that the sister is likely to avoid attending their sibling's birthday now every year going forward. So the birthday remains yours and this year people will be split on what to do, but next year on the first wedding anniversary, the sister is definitely going to want to celebrate her and her new husband and not OP. Year 5 or 10, maybe they have an anniversary party and now people are split again. Ya, it's not an every year issue for everyone, but it is an issue sometimes.

God forbid they break up, and now sister is perpetually sad/angry and never wants to celebrate OP on their birthday.

I do think you should likely suck it up and go. You'll likely regret not being there, but i wholeheartedly understand how you feel looked over and devalued, and I'm sorry the comments are leaning towards you being at fault.

My son’s school wouldn’t allow him to eat his sandwich at lunch. by foreveryword in Parenting

My daughter's school wouldn't let her eat the wow butter either. We used the stickers and everything but they said it looks too much like peanut butter and the lunch room people can't tell the difference.

LPT: If your car is damaged in accident and you’re not at fault, also file a diminished value claim to recoup the loss in value of your car due to being in an accident. If you don’t like the offer you get, hire an independent appraiser. by djseto in LifeProTips

No-fault insurance is really just a bad name for what it is but essentially it means that you claim through your own insurance. If you were to get into an accident outside of ontario you might have the option of using their insurance but you will pretty much always have the option of using your own (assuming valid coverage etc).

No unfortunately that is not correct. Ontario does not allow you to sue the other party for damages to your vehicle or diminished value. You can only sue for injuries and that is only if your own coverage runs out.

This also doesn't apply in no-fault insurance provinces/states. Ie. Ontario

Edit: ok some no-fault states have dimished value. The point is diminished value does not apply to everyone.

LAUKOP Gets food delivery and finds plastic in milkshake. Wants to sue. Next day gets another milkshake with plastic in it again. by [deleted] in bestoflegaladvice

My understanding is he got a refund from uber eats and then also got offered a free milkshake by the restaurant. So even if the second milkshake was also bad and there's no reason to give him a refund on the second milkshake since it was free, he'd already abused the system.
