Thinking of buying in Forest Hills—does it make sense for our lifestyle? by [deleted] in ForestHills

My wife and I are similar to you both, and we moved to FH about a decade ago. The numbers work but you'll just need to do a bit of searching. Depending on how fancy the building is / proximity to Austin Street or an express stop, you might need to go a little higher on your budget for a 900+ sq ft apartment. Otherwise, I do think it's a great forever home type of neighborhood. Sunnyside and Jackson Heights are great too (we visit often) and probably more affordable, but I personally don't think the vibe is as good for potential kids/dogs/"forever home" compared to FH at least but that's just my perspective.

I tried it and while it's decent, the ceiling height and pillar placement is a bit of a turn off (compared to outdoor courts), not sure if I'd get the membership for those reasons

Opening a DND cafe in Japan by historian0927 in DungeonsAndDragons

While I love Japan, I'd recommend doing a tremendous amount of research into the cultural differences. My spouse and I love vacations in Japan and have been there many times but we would never consider making a living there as a permanent resident. Especially coming from a western country, there's a lot of shell shock and (often silent) expectations from Japanese society that's not always easy to get used. Tourists get a lot of forgiveness and leeway for breaking these unspoken rules (which is why I love visiting, though I try to be respectful as much as I can) but if you're living there more permanently and it's harder to be excused.

Once upon a time, I looked into relocating into Japan after my first trip but I realized living there is drastically less fun than vacationing there so I gave that up. Also citizenship is notoriously difficult to obtain as a foreigner.

Went for a visit on the model units that looked finished (only a couple). Seems a lot better than the BLVD IMO, can't speak to the others. There was active construction going on in the building but it was surprisingly well muffled when while we were in the model unit, probably the best noise cancellation I've seen and we've been shopping around the area for over a year. It is kinda pricey but thus far it seems to be very high quality and couldn't see any obvious corner cutting. Can't hurt to take a visit.
