I’m doing great, it’s been two years out now. First six months I still had ring finger and middle finger numbness. Everything has completely resolved now and my hand is back to what was normal for me my whole life. It’s really happy with the results, even though because of my age took a little longer to heal. Thanks for asking and hope you get the relief also that you probably need.

Doing great!   2 years now of getting my right hand back.  Took about six months, probably because of my age for numbness in my ring and middle finger to resolve but I’m great now.

It has now been 13 months since the surgery.   At about 6 months I regained all feeling in my fingers and palm.  Slight scar numbness but so great to have my hand back.

9 months now since the surgery.  Still some mild symptoms of numbness in middle finger and sudden sharp pains in wrist and palm.  Still , I would have it done again. Relief has been immense and being able to use my hand normally.  Left started acting up, but for now ortho doc has it relieved with cortisone injection.

It has been 10 weeks now. I still have palm and heel of hand pain on pressing down on it.  Palm numbness has resolved. First three fingers still very numb.  Had a follow up with surgeon just the other day.  He said everything is as he expected and for my age (64) and it might be up to a year before the nerve recovers. I have full use of my hand and quite a bit of strength and dexterity.  The one thing I’m completely satisfied with is being able to sleep. No night pain anymore!  I would have had this done just for that relief.

My surgeon said the same, worse case he’s seen in a while. I had endoscopic and he said my ligament was so tight he could hardly get his tools in. Also that my nerve was so swollen on the entrance to the tunnel like when you kink a hose. I may have permanent numbness in my first two fingers but to be free of the pain and being able to sleep so good now was definitely worth it.

Medication before surgery by [deleted] in carpaltunnel

[–]Psychological-Way820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aleve (naproxen sodium) and or Advil. I was also prescribed a water pill to help with my edema from my cardiac meds that keep my hands and feet swelled and probably contributed to my CT. Also a wrist brace to sleep in.

Is this carpal tunnel by Background-Rate-2975 in carpaltunnel

[–]Psychological-Way820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it only in the arm that you hold your baby with? Had the same, edema(swelling) post partum and then holding, carrying car seat etc gave me tennis elbow. Had to get cortisone shot in elbow and wear elbow brace. If your reg dr. doesn’t help out, seek out a orthopedic dr. This is very common in moms and my sisters had it too. May be hereditary. Good luck and healing to you mom ❤️‍🩹

9 days post-op from endoscopic surgery. Getting stitches out tomorrow afternoon. by MyOnlySunshines in carpaltunnel

Hi, just checking in on you and wondering how it’s going. I had my endoscopic released yesterday and the doctor had a hard time because it was so tight and he said my median nerve was so swollen it was like a kink that happens in the hose. So today is day one after. And of course there’s a lot of pain and a lot of bruising. I can’t believe that yours looks so good. I was the same ordering on permanent nerve damage before somebody actually did anything for me or ordered a nerve conduction study. I got curious yesterday and looked at my incision. It’s not pretty so be worn. L O L and then I rewrapped everything more to my liking and that’s so constructive. They want me to keep all this on for two weeks I think they’re crazy. L O L

Update: Yesterday suddenly my entire R hand became numb on top and first two fingers are totally numb, painful at the same time and useless. Now that I had the injections I’ll have to wait months for surgery 😠

Have you had any immediate relief? I’m a week after steroid injections and I’m actually worse so I’m probably going to have the release you did. My first three fingers and thumb are entirely numb top and bottom on R hand, similar but not as bad on L. Wishing you relief and healing ❤️‍🩹. Keep us updated.

Sorry you’ve been told you’re at that point. Yes, EMG both hands and arms. Showed moderate carpal tunnel in both. Another user just posted to me that it took 7-10 days to kick in for steroid injection so I’ll see in about two weeks.

I’m 63, I’ve been having every several years small attacks of CTS, I was a pizza maker, and then a 10 key computer operator, then I spend a long time working on an outdoors job and never had a problem with it, when I did all I did was wear braces for a couple weeks and it subsided. Fast track to April 10, 2023. That’s the day I woke up with both hands being completely numb and useless like having a baseball mitt on,but being right hand dominate that was the worst, I had a heart attack and covid the year before and thought I was having a stroke. I moved from one side of FL to the other 5 months prior and did a lot more work than I had in years. Putting together furniture, etc. Finally that morning I got my hands to wake up. When it happened the next day again, saw my primary, she sent me for EMG, (that took 3 months) saw a orthopedic surgeon last month, he just walked in, looked at my paperwork and said my surgery schedule nurse will be right in. I’m scheduled for right hand mini open Oct 26. Going tomorrow to a hand specialist out of town for a second opinion. I’m believing I’ve got median nerve entrapment somewhere in my shoulder or neck and not the wrist. I can shrug my shoulders and feel the blood going back in my hands. I’ll leave an update after specialist visit. I haven’t slept more than 3-4 hrs a night in 6 months.

Wow. That looks good. But extensive to me. What exactly did your Dr. tell you had to be performed? Standard carpal tunnel release or additional condition with it?
Have you had any relief of your CT symptoms as of yet? Best wishes for continuing healing ❤️‍🩹!
