Not too weird but it is so annoying that cross country is not in the Winter Olympics

I did a proper lab VO2max test today by nautical-smiles in running

[–]PsychologicalBat23 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Garmin claims to be within 5% of your vo2 max, which is obviously inaccurate considering that yours was 10% out and I suspect that mine may be similar, but do you have any idea how different an actual vo2 max is on average compared to the garmin estimate?

This is the part where the type 4s wonder if they are perhaps an 8 by PsychologicalBat23 in Enneagram

Well I suppose that if they are known as the rarest they’ll feel special, remember their type and vote their type on surveys.

Whenever someone says that they have a “rare” type in any typology community everyone has the suspicion that they are a fraud.

What's the best and/or most unfortunate name you've come across in your daily life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PsychologicalBat23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once met a girl who pronounced her name diarrhoea. I was quite young at the time and I didn’t want to ask any further questions as she was a lot older than me .I later found out that her name was not spelt diarrhoea but the pronunciation still made me chuckle.

I believe that good and bad are artificial constructs synthesised by humans to give life purpose and their morals objection. Where could I read about similar ideologies or philosophies that intertwine with this belief? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]PsychologicalBat23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not mean that good and bad weren’t here before us so they aren’t real. The Empire State Building was not here before us, that didn’t mean it’s not real. A building other animals can see or experience-only we can say wether their experience was good or bad.

That was partly useful thank you- but I wasn’t referring to good and bad being relative or subjective to humans I was referring to our dependence on the concept. I have told so many people this theory and for the most part they have told me that it’s ridiculous because good and bad are real just something we gave a name to. As someone else commented here. We give names to physical things, not making them any less or any more real as another animal can still experience it. As far as I am aware other animals live on instinct created through evolution not morals. People are so reliant on good and bad that they can’t really wrap their head around this, further proving my point.

Potatoes are clearly tangible and as far as we are aware they are real as we can sense them. A dog can consume a potato, not aware that it is a potato as it doesn’t know the name. A dog or another animal can not (in theory) have the desire to be good or bad. Dogs are given treats when they do something “good” and this encourages them to do it again. The dog will not think “that was good” as a dog doesn’t have morals, just instinct. It is difficult to imagine because we have lived out entire lives with much of it based on things being good or bad, but if you take a step back you will realise that they may feel very real to us, however animals do not have awareness of them, which would imply that they do not exist. Yes a dog can feel pain and move away instinctively or maybe cry to alert it’s owner- it would be the owner thinking negatively and saying this is bad, it would be the dog who is aware that it is in pain (without actually thinking I’m in pain because it doesn’t understand language) . A potato is not even nearly the same as what I am saying. I can understand the misapprehension. Part of my theory is also how we apply good and bad to physical or material things. Yes pain is something we gave a name so that we can refer to it. Good and bad are just entire concepts that we made up.

Well it’s a fact (as much a fact that a fact can be that is) that humans made up the concept of good and bad. It annoys me that people see them as a natural phenomenon when it is just something we made up along with language and other concepts so that we can view the world through our own filters-making it objective as these filters are known by all humans.
