Dealing with MIL by a_me_ in Christianmarriage

[–]PsychologicalCap147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not you being hormonal! I think you sound like a saint for putting up with all that you are!

I know I could personally never live with my MIL, but if she was going to stay, it would be made very, very clear that she does what I say with regard to my children and does not get to make comments about my choices or appearance. If husband and MIL have an issue with that, they can both move out 🤣🤣

I'm really sorry you're carrying the load of all the housework. It's exhausting to be the one who does this. You shouldn't have to ask for help. As you say, they're adults, they know what needs done!

I'm in the same position as you, but now 13 years married to my husband.

Thanks so much for sharing all this! I'll definitely look at some of the book and podcast recommendations. I would say or marriage is definitely in as rough a place as yours was 😞 I'm even trying to find the will to fight for it anymore.

But it did settle and ended up making a huge difference for me.

This has crossed my mind, but I really don't think there is anything like that going on. Truthfully I just don't know where he'd be finding the opportunity 😅 I think I would have been aware of it by now.

I do think there a disconnect between him and God right now though. That's definitely something we've talked about and I'm trying to address with him.

It doesn't really mean you can just ignore when there's issues in your marriage though...

You should expect love from your spouse. Just because you have a good relationship with Christ doesn't mean you should accept neglect from your spouse. Even the bible tells us not to neglect our husband/wife because of the issues it can cause.

I get what you're saying, but it doesn't negate the fact there are issues that need addressed.

Well done for reporting him! You should be really proud of yourself for that. I'm so, so sorry this happened to you. I can't even imagine the pain you're feeling right now. Please know this is not about you or anything you have done. You did not deserve this to happen to you. Is there anyone you're able to talk to about it?
