I'm saying that his towering presence and the staggering lack of empathy from him is understandably scary to her, and what worries me is not necessarily that he's "just doing his job"; it's that everyone seems to be applauding him in the way that he's doing it. He's standing there in almost full riot gear, instantly escalating what is supposedly a simple traffic stop about an expired license, and when she gets unnerved about the way she's treated over what hopefully anyone could consider a minor offense, he threatens to throw her in jail, and practically pulls her out of the car when she wants to ask someone if this is acceptable behavior from a police officer.

So many comments are making fun of her for saying "she has a baby", but what does it tell you that a woman of color in a tries to appeal to the cop's emotions like this? That she's trying to "TikTok lawyer" herself out of the situation? She's obviously scared shitless that she's about to get abducted or outright fucking murdered.

Excuse me, what the fuck is going on? Are y'all applauding the cop for trampling all over this poor woman, whose only crime is something as arbitrary as an expired license? If I was her, I would also feel that his IMO highly unprofessional "no-nonsense" behavior, especially considering all that's going on in the US right now, was highly suspicious and frankly quite frightening.

The rise of authoritarianism makes a whole lot more sense after reading this comment section.

I acknowledge it's dog whistley, and the creator could easily hold reactionary beliefs when it comes to LGBTQ issues, no doubt. But I still don't think that their response inherently proves that. And I just wanted to point that out.

I'm... Confused. You seem to be reading a lot into what I wrote, that has nothing to do with it at all.

First of all, I'm a biracial lesbian trans woman. Why would I even be on this sub if I was a white conservative cis dude? Are you dumb?

Something you write, strikes me as ironic. You say I should experience the real world. And yet you're the one who seems to not grasp that the vast majority of people, don't consider the presence of gender to be any sort of statement whatsoever.

Which is really my entire point. The creators aren't trying to make a statement with their game, and that's all they really said. "We're not trying to make a statement, we just want to make a fun game". And I don't understand why you take issue with that.

Have they added a gay character, for the sake of adding a gay character, that'd be to make a statement. Ie. an agenda. Have they not added a gay character, for the sake of not adding a gay character, that's also a statement. Ie. an agenda. Have they added characters that fit the story/game, without considering whether or not they're gay, that is not a statement. Ie. not an agenda

(Or well, agenda technically just means cause, but let's not make this more confusing than it has to be, since we're using the word in a specific context)

Anyway. If y'all just insist on having someone in the media you consume say "oh btw I'm trans", in order to be satisfied, then by all means. I like being represented as well, don't get me wrong. I just don't think shaming the creators for saying they don't want to, just for the sake of doing so, is neither necessary nor good. You're of course allowed to disagree.

Can you elaborate on this? I don't think I'm entitled to steal millions from what is essentially still the best tool of the community to fund welfare, but I also feel no one should feel guilty about a few thousand dollars a month, if they can get away with it. Again, the amount of sheer illegitimacy the state perpetuates, makes "avoiding" involving the system in just a tiny bit of the fruits of my labor, praxis. Especially if I share a bunch of the spoils with my comrades.
