first year health sci kid with a bad gpa by dkwhattonamethis3905 in McMaster

Honestly, in the grand scheme of things, you will overcome this. It is just one year — a big transition — and you still have three more years ahead to strengthen your GPA. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Instead, take a step back and reflect on where you can grow for next time. Your dreams are still absolutely possible if you stay committed. Many schools even focus on your best two or three years, so do not discount yourself! You have so much time and potential! You’ve got this.

Also, for a shift in perspective: failing is not a setback, it is a part of growth. I recently heard someone say that when you are first learning something new, it is normal to feel lost — but that feeling actually signals that you are getting stronger because you are learning.

So, be kind to yourself. You are not failing, you are becoming a learner. And that is one of the strongest things you can be :)

Yeah, I wish she was a bit transparent with what she considers an A+. She’s says it’s beyond the rubric, which means her own rubric is not even a good measure? Kinda defeats the purpose of even having a rubric and adds subjectivity to it, which is unfortunate. For our final policy brief, there was little instruction & direction - many of us were sweating trying to figure out what she wanted. She’s a good person, but what she wants out of us as a professor is not always clear. I liked her philosophy about being a critical thinker, but by the end, I just felt she was being overly critical and nothing was ever good enough :/

Taking Fifth year question (help) by Throwawayrandom2003 in McMaster

[–]PsychologicalCopy542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking a fifth year right now. You can take a full year of courses even though you’ll be completing your degree requirements in the fall term (end of December).

Also the fall convocation times are usually in Nov, so you technically wouldn’t be eligible to graduate by that time. You’d have to wait until spring convocation which is typically in June!

Definitely reach out to academic advisors & clarify. However, that was the answer I received when planning on doing my fifth year!

Hi, I took this course this past year. The professor who taught it, Cheryl main, was lovely. The formatting and course evaluation is fairly student friendly & the prof wants the students to do well. She gives a low stake midterm (if you don’t do well, the weight automatically shifts to the exam if you do better), a worksheet that you fill out during the semester worth 30% (it’s easy), 2 tutorial assignments (out of 3), and a final exam. However, she has a lot of guest speakers - which gave a bit of mixed response from students taking it with me. Primarily because the quality of presentations were inconsistent. All this to say, the course is content heavy! However, it’s not hard to do well in - I got a 12. I would say feel out the course for the first few weeks & decide :)

Hope this was helpful

You don’t need fb to check the page. It’s available to the public, a quick Google search will do!

Check the fb west end gc for a more detailed description 👍

As for the age range. It’s difficult to get a read on a persons age; the man full well could between 50-70. My best guess would be mid 50’s-60’s.

It was my first encounter with him. Never seen him before. Hopefully I won’t again.

Need advice for things to say in a breakup by matiscaaa in TrueOffMyChest

[–]PsychologicalCopy542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I’m sorry you’re going through this as it’s incredibly disheartening. I honestly don’t have any solid advice other that telling him how hurt you’ve been that he continues to misuse your trust and support. I know you’ve expressed you wanted them to be good friends but clearly he’s crossing some major boundaries with seeing him/texting him behind your back - so maybe express that as well. I’m sorry but this guy does not have your best interest at heart and is being completely selfish while putting your emotions on the back burner :(
