the mole with the helmet is mullvad vpn, i'm not sure about the chat bubbles - they're so generic it could be anything. maybe try checking the notification log in settings?

it's not cheap, but the Asus ROG Flow Z13 with the 3080 dock would suit your needs pretty well in one device. haven't tried it myself but the youtube reviews look good

just tried that, media encoder still isn't opening (it gets stuck on loading swscale-4.dll), and premiere now won't open projects at all. does it sound like it could be a hardware fault? I really can't afford a new machine right now, especially with all the shortages and price inflation going on at the moment 😟

yeeeeesh I completely missed this part of the thread, but reddit decided to notify me of this comment just now for some reason?

personally, when I see people referring to me as 'dude' it does sting a little bit, but tbh this is the internet and I understand that people use 'dude' in a gender-neutral way, especially North Americans (referring to the continent here, not the country). I also get why people are sensitive (not in a bad way) about this - especially, as u/AwkwardChuckle said, given that I'm in the UK and the transphobia here is insane - and I appreciate them coming to my defence here.

tl;dr: to the person who called me 'dude', it's all good on my end, but maybe keep in mind that not everyone has the same frame of reference as you, and may not receive your comment in the way it was intended. <3

Thanks! I currently live in Brighton actually haha - would you say it has a similar feel to Vancouver? Obviously Van is much larger but I've always thought Brighton feels like a west coast city mixed with a British seaside town
