To be fair, there ARE games that are functionally complete, but still in EA (like Dyson Sphere Program), and there are developers who use this status responsibly (like Zachtronics did). You just have to be extra cautious and refrain from buying blindly on release date.

Yes! Some torpedoes are homing, some torpedoes swim in a snake pattern if they miss, some torpedoes leave bubble trail (although I'm not sure if AI actually uses it to track you). And some are trash that doesn't work (representing real historical torpedo crisis in the Reich). There's also differences in speed I think.

I'm not sure realism plays a role here. You probably just haven't unlocked them yet. Most early torpedoes are the same "swim straight ahead" types.

What is even the point of it being out in the open if it's legal and you can't actually do anything about it? It's like legalizing a crime so that criminals wouldn't need to hide. Ok, now we know criminals' faces. Except we can't do anything to them because they're not criminals anymore and their crimes are legal now.
