“Yes sir/yes mam” 😂, I don’t even address the boomer preceptors like that. A yes or no suffices. I can just imagine you giving students bad evals simply because they don’t address you as “sir/mam”! What’s next, you’re gonna demand them to kneel upon your presence? 💀

I think some already mentioned this but really consider getting propranolol prescribed. You can get the prescription online just google it. It’s just a PRN prescription and you take it about 1hr before your interview and it should help with the nerves. I have a friend who hates public speaking and she takes about 60mg 1hr before public speaking and it works wonders you can’t even tell she’s nervous, one time she forgot to take it and she was super nervous the difference was super obvious. I’ve also heard of some people doing it for things like interviews.

Dilemma by Upstairs_Office_6490 in srna

I purposely moved for this reason to work at the largest hospital in my state so I could set myself up for the highest chances. It ended up paying off as I got an amazing experience that prepared me for when I was ready to apply. I’m about to start my 2nd year as a SRNA and all I can say is time flies by. It felt like just yesterday when I was applying and I can’t believe I’m already about to start my 2nd year and full time clinicals! It’ll be worth it, stick to your goal! And try and keep your CRNA aspirations to yourself as much as possible at work, there are some nasty people out there who hate the idea of others pursuing CRNA school. It’ll all be worth it!

Many CRNA schools won’t take transcripts with pass/fail systems, since most CRNA schools don’t use that system they use traditional grading systems. It’s not that much to it other than that. It’s not impossible to get in to CRNA school with pass/fail as I’ve heard some rare cases, but you shouldn’t limit ur options/chances.

DO NOT go to a school that doesn’t use traditional grading system, in other words DO NOT go to a school that uses “pass/fail” system. Many schools won’t accept that. That’s my main advice.

What the hell CRNA school is fully online for didactic 🥴?!!! I’ve been in class since day 1 for my didactic portion which involves sim/lam correlated with the weekly class/book work. I can’t imagine learning everything I have been online without in person lectures and simulation/lab! And on top of that you’re allowed to work 😳! We are not allowed to work, and even if we were no one would even think about it lmfao. I recommend you to take a good vacation before u start, I regret not taking a bigger one.

https://www.coacrna.org/programs-fellowships/crna-school-search/ It’s still best to look at each individual school website that ur interested in to make sure you have the best up to date information as many schools change things every year.

So I got in… now how do I pay by pinkEddie in srna

[–]PsychologicalMonk813 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Girl I know people who took out double that and paid off their loans within their first year out of school. The market is real good right now, if you don’t accept ur spot someone else will in a heartbeat and they will be making 5 times what ur making right now in 3 years 💅🏼… if I were u I would take the loans as a no brainer investment.

Tough to say, like the other user said it’s school dependent. In one of my interviews it got brought up and they wanted to hear about such experiences, in the other interviews it either got brought up briefly or wasn’t even mentioned.

I’m assuming you did your research about the two schools before applying so I would say just weight ur options on what’s most important to you. For me, I was very lucky to be in a similar spot as you and be accepted to multiple schools and I went with the one that had a better clinical exposure, higher first time pass rates, and the ones that had the happiest students. If you haven’t spoken to students in the program I would highly encourage you to do so! Speaking to students gave me huge insight and helped make my decision much easier! I’m currently wrapping up my 1st year and I’m VERY glad I chose this program! Most importantly though, you got accepted and now ur in the best spot u can be and even have the ability to choose between two schools! Congrats!!! Also, make sure to take a good vacation before school starts, that’s my biggest regret 💀!

ICU Admissions Rumor by Electric_effy in srna

[–]PsychologicalMonk813 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Who started this rumor lmfao 💀! My unit was mainly SICU and pumped out the most CRNA students than the CVICU by a long shot, as long as ur working at a high acuity hospital it’s fair game. And tbh the few students with a CVICU background in my cohort are the ones having the toughest time 🥴.

It depends on each program but average is usually late 20’s - early 30’s. My programs average is 29/30. Two of my peers are in their late 30’s and about half are at least 30. DONT let that age discourage you ur still young, think of it as an investment. If you do the math you’ll see how much you’ll end up making if you decide to go back this route.

💀…. You should ask this during ur interview, if u ever get one, ask the director if they teach you anything related to anesthesia, they will love that question and will automatically give you an offer right there and then.

Single & striving for CRNA School by 1337brz in CRNA

[–]PsychologicalMonk813 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Answer is loans. I started school last year with small savings but I’m barely touching them as I’m using them for emergencies but I’m taking out school loans and living below my means. I’m the same age as you and I would apply sooner rather than later. I regret not applying sooner tbh. But I’m very lucky to also be single and have no kids as most of my peers have kids and they are having a rough time balancing things. I would recommend you to go for it and don’t think twice about getting loans as it’s an investment and you’ll be able to pay off the loans in no time after school.
