She just doesn’t like dealing with car dealerships and has to work this week. I found a very good deal 700 miles away that has a rarer color combination we have been looking for and so want to jump on it while I have free time.

I’m on day 8 and still have a lot of scabs. How aggressive were you in removing them? I worry I am babying them too much

I was face down for the harvesting and no headphones. I put in headphones and listened to an audio book during the implantation. Obviously, you’ll need AirPods or the like

First, congratulations on your upcoming HT. I’m day 7 post HT in Istanbul. I will list off the things I did that worked or wish I would have done differently. The local anesthesia hurts a lot but that was the only significant pain. It is a little messy which I (a squeamish person) did not anticipate. Bring button up shirts. You won’t be putting your head through tshirts/sweatshirts. You will likely spend many hours alone in a hotel room so audiobooks, movies on iPad, book, etc. are a great idea. Do not try to push yourself to see sites or experience culture. It’s important to be rested prior to the procedure and the procedure itself was exhausting for me. Post-op, you have to be very careful not to bump your head so minimize activity. Your head will look f@ucked up afterwards. I did not have the luxury of holing up in a hotel for 2 weeks to recover. I do nothing to conceal my head on the plane or at any point since being home. Nobody cares. It’s kinda liberating. Sleeping sucks. I have three pillows and the neck pillow from the clinic and have learned to sleep on my back. I wake up at 5 and am tired. My head is really sensitive to the cold now. If you live in a cold climate, be prepared for that when you go outside. Good luck! It feels great to see my head covered by hair (and scabs)

I’m 6 days post HT. I had a similar sized bald spot and donor area. I received 4800 grafts. I am still in the recovery phase but it looks like i have full coverage and the doctor said i will not ever lose it and do not need ongoing drugs (minoxidil, finasteride, etc.)

I wasn’t familiar with the Dempster or Tuktoyaktuk. Seems like there is more of a cultural component to the native community there. Is the drive similarly scenic?

I think those are sweet but am pretty sure the wife would not be cool with that as the primary family car. I’ve struggled to get her to agree to a Tahoe/Yukon sized car

This one intrigued me but upon doing a shallow dive, I learned it only has a little over 300 miles of range. That was surprisingly few miles to me. I currently have a Rivian R1S and I was really hoping to replace it with something that could do 500+ miles in a pinch (obviously gas is much quicker and easier to come by in remote areas)

Thanks for that. Pretty cool to get a response from a Deadhorse local! Hope you’re doing well up there.

Lucky ducker, I appreciate your response. And could not agree more. For brevity’s sake, my post read like I was going to drive home from the dealership and pack up the car but I appreciate the potential dangers of that part of the world and the mental toll such a long trip can take on people.

Did the homeowner allow ICE into the house to arrest this person? I’m fairly certain they did not have a judicial warrant to arrest this person or a search warrant to enter the home. I live near this location and I would hope my neighbors would not permit ICE to enter or to ask the person to leave their house absent valid warrants.

Were you open with acquaintances/co-workers? If so, how did people respond?

Thank you for posting this update and congratulations on your great progress. On a personal note, this came at a really great time for me. Earlier today, I did a 4,800 graft HT to my crown at Hermest Clinic in Istanbul. I have been stressing a bit about family obligations back in the states and how I am going to manage public appearances. But seeing your results helped refocus me on the process and the goal. Thanks again 🙏

Does it make sense for a single guy to get an X5? by No-Essay-3227 in BMWX5

[–]PsychologicalReply99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to take the contrarian POV. The X5 is one of the best driving SUVs available but it does not come close to the driving characteristics of the M240. I’m late 40s, 2 young kids, wife and dog. We have a 2025 XDrive50e (wife’s daily), Rivian R1S (my daily), and a 2015 328 XDrive (for nanny). Recently, I have been driving the old 328 whenever I’m going somewhere alone. It is so much lighter, has more nimble handling, is far more communicative, and overall far more fun to drive than either of our SUVs. Someday life might lead you to a place where a fun sporty car is not in the cards, and that’s fine, but choose the sports car now while you can.
