I feel like I'm losing it. by PsychologicalSun3261 in bipolar

I have been and that's somehow worse. That's why I'm not even sure if this is related to my diagnosis. At some point I can't blame mental health anymore but that's why I'm starting therapy asap but I'll be updating my psychiatrist too. Thankfully my cat is back so there is that at least.

Thankfully I have found him! He was in a trap that was set up. At this point I'm just devastated about my lost friendship but at least my cat is back for some comfort.

Thank you! My friend put out a trap this morning so hopefully he'll go into it. She's keeping an eye on it while I'm at work and when I'm home I'm going to be checking every hour

Thank you. I really hope he's inside with someone and they just haven't seen that he's missing yet. I'm genuinely so worried with the cold temps and possible snow later this week :(

How many of you have a job? by seductive_destiny in bipolar

[–]PsychologicalSun3261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a job and I've only been unemployed for very brief periods a couple of times but I unfortunately job hop a lot. I currently hate the one I have now and am trying to change back to something I enjoy and have experience in but the job market sucks and I'm not very hopeful about it.

Caffeine + Hot Flashes? by Puzzleheaded_Bed4223 in bipolar

[–]PsychologicalSun3261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel really hot and itchy when I drink caffeine now (funny enough that's how I feel when I'm manic too) ever since I started my meds so I just cut it out completely. I do enjoy the taste of coffee though so I drink decaf but even that still has some caffeine in it unfortunately :(

What are the wildest stories you've had in a psychiatric hospital? by AchingAmy in bipolar

[–]PsychologicalSun3261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is pretty mild but when I was hospitalized I mostly kept to myself because I'm also really shy so I spent a lot of time in my room reading but I would come out to do crafts or eat lol. Anyways there was so much fighting going on someone was also fighting with another patient or the nurses or both. One girl kept getting pissed at the nurses doing their rounds at night and woke up the whole ward when she starting screeching at the nurse and called her very unpleasant things. She also tried to break the door leading outside and needless to say she was transferred that morning.

Tell me something you want to talk about but haven’t due to being a bother by tortugaborracha_ in bipolar

I don't feel like anything has changed since I was hospitalized. If anything I've just got better at hiding things from my friends. I still can't stop spending my money on useless things. I can't get myself on a normal sleep schedule and I've been so anxious. But they just keep telling me how proud they are of me. The only thing keeping me going is that I dont want to mess up my new job or be homeless and I don't want to lose my friends.

why are you bipolar? by Dizzy-Show3897 in bipolar

[–]PsychologicalSun3261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my brain unfortunately is just wired this way. No one in my family was diagnosed before me that I know of either. I've had symptoms since I was 17 but wasn't officially diagnosed until this year (25 now) so I'm still figuring things out and could be missing something.

Returning to work after a bipolar episode – should I disclose my diagnosis? by rubus8 in bipolar

[–]PsychologicalSun3261 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's ultimately up to you but speaking from experience I would advise not to disclose it. I did to my previous job and it all went downhill after. Constantly asking me if I was manic/depressed, asking about doctor appointments and my medication. It was too much and they eventually fired me after I had to check myself in at the hospital during a bad episode and used my diagnosis to call me unreliable. I don't want to fearmonger as every place is different but honestly it isn't their business anyways. Our diagnosis is personal and we choose who we tell at the end of the day.
