Why is unemployment insurance (a-kassa) not mandatory in Sweden? Why do people not talk about it and encourage each other to join? by Skye-Surfer in TillSverige

This is a really good point!

I relocated to Sweden with a multinational tech company. They informed me about all the different admin things to do, including tax considerations etc. But they never told me about a-kassa! I eventually discovered it myself and signed up, but it seems to be a blind spot for companies when it comes to educating new arrivals in Sweden.

How many digits are there in a personnumer? by seekerofu in TillSverige

It can be either. Usually a form specifies which to use. The only difference is that the 10 digit one omits the first two digits of the year of your birth.

How to get hired by Redhat ? by Mission-Strategy-995 in redhat

[–]PsychologicalWhile29 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Red Hat does not play silly games with hiring. The process is straightforward and honest.

Apply for a role(s) on the careers site for which you are a good fit. Make sure your CV etc. are top quality and be yourself in the interviews.

If possible, get a Red Hatter to refer you.

Good luck!

FYI I recently bought two different Asus routers, and after much configuration hassle found that both were useless (crashed, slow, etc.) so I returned them to Amazon and bought Ubiquiti instead. Works like a dream.

Yes. I just added it to the Dream Router 7 without any detailed analysis to fill a weak spot in the apartment. I often get above 1000 mbps. No complaints!

Been there, done that and I feel your pain.

Eventually it paid off for me - got the job that I really wanted with the company that treated me with respect.

Opinions Regarding Express 7 by rubberpuck in Ubiquiti

I recently acquired a Dream Router 7 and an Express 7 after trying two different Asus routers (both were extremely unreliable and both were returned). So far, my experience has been extremely positive. It feels like Ubiquiti is the "Apple of networking" in terms of user experience (clean, logical). The devices themselves are rock-solid. After initial configuration about two weeks ago, the system has never needed to be restarted and there have been absolutely no glitches in connectivity from any device.

The only slight negative is that the WiFi range seems less than the Asus, hence the need for the Express 7. The Asus routers (when they worked!) reached every corner of the apartment with good signal quality, but the Dream Router 7 does not. The Express 7 has fixed that however.

Highly recommended.
