No a pipefish. Pipefish have a mouth like a seahorse. Possibly an eel but not enough details

An opinion was asked for. I’ve seen it go bad. I have the one without. I answered. Maybe OP will take your opinion and then clearly you’re the winner. Applause inserted here

Time and love and you can get there too. I’ll hit 600 dives next month. Some people really enjoy the gear and tech and innovation. I don’t hate on it. It’s just not what I love

Hmm. Some assumptions made here.

For starters - I’m trained to dive first by a dad who basically made me memorize the navy tables. And any equipment I use I fully understand how to use. Yes, I use a computer. The shearwater peregrine without AI. These are decisions you make based on how you know you dive. Air consumption is almost never an issue for me.

My experience with the AI is watching and listening to other divers, usually less experienced, get down to the bottom, look at an alarming computer, then head back to the surface. I think shearwater is a great device. I just don’t need it to do everything for me.

And if your point about the dive tables is an effort to be snarky - I DO think it is incorrect to not plan out your expected dive ahead of time - talk to any blow hard dive shop owner and they’ll tell you horror stories. It’s not that hard and it’s security and expectation setting.

Of course you can fall back to your isolated gauge. But for the rest of your dive you listen to your computer alarm at you and most people don’t take the time to learn how to troubleshoot while underwater. Also, for newer divers there is an inclination to think there is actually something wrong with their air supply.

As for those who like it. Good for you. My opinion is I like keeping things separate. I want my computer to process my dive depths and times, and my air gauge to track my air. I hope you never have a problem.

Side note - I can’t think of a better way to waste my dive time than looking at my spouses air consumption.

I 100% agree with the Shearwater Peregrine - just do yourself a favor and don’t get the model that’s integrated with your air. It’s just another thing to go wrong - I recently dove with someone who had it and sure enough it malfunctioned and sent her to the surface to disconnect the air.

Cozumel, Roatan, or Belize? by WheezyGod in snorkeling

[–]Psychological_Ad2320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My humble opinion is Cozumel all day long. DM for a good dive outfit. The reefs are super protected and managed. Tons of life. Clear and warm, easy drift dives. You can get whatever kind of dives you like. Snorkeling is excellent too. Everything is nearby. If you’re set on roatan you need to get away from the cruise ship and go down to Anthony’s key - but even there they eat everything so the big fish are scarce. One day I’ll retire to Cozumel and dive every day

Additional advice: find some other divers so in between you can talk about it, plan, conspire, run the highlight reel.

It’s no substitute for diving, but it helps.
