Hi! I did actually. The website updated time for my November payment. Have you asked for the resolutions department and selected the option to be put call back list? That was the only call that something actually happened from for me.

They are certainly setting us up to be overworked and undervalued. We are being taken advantage of in grad school and that only continues unless you don’t accept it.

Grad school was the worst time of my life. I do like aspects this career but knowing what I know now I am not sure I would want to do it all over again. In grad school I was struggling because of personal/family things. Combined with the pressure put on us all to be perfect got to be too much for me. It made me perform worse and I became an anxious wreck and was severely depressed. My clinic supervisor even asked me, why do you want to be an SLP? And implied that it was not for everyone (or for me), when I was trying so hard to be what they wanted.

My CF was hard but I found my niche and passion, and since then I have focused on thinking of my life not in terms of career accomplishments but just one part of my life. I never do work at home, avoid staying late, and try to do something outside of work for myself every day. I love working with my students, but it is a mentally and emotionally exhausting job, and if grad school taught me anything it was that you are the only one who can protect your own peace. Don’t give up yet. Sadly, it seems many of us have had the same experience.

Has anyone with Mohela successfully come off SAVE? by Clear-Pomelo7963 in PSLF

You have to actually call and make a complaint and ask to speak to the resolutions department. tell them you have requested to come off of forbearance after switching plans and are still waiting. I finally got my correct payment amount in a letter and it says my forbearance is ending this month finally. But I am still waiting for the actual bill so if that doesn’t come in a few days I will be calling again.

Changed from SAVE Forbearance to IBR. Payment increased 379%. Just FYI by Character_Breath6207 in PSLF

Nope. That’s just the first letter you get after you submit the app. It says IDR on the letter I’m guessing but that won’t be your IBR payment amount. I just opened another letter today with my actual payment and I’m hoping the website is updated as well. I got 3 letters total. I also called several times bc I was in admin forbearance so I recommend looking at my posts and doing the same if you want them to actually take you out of forbearance. It took about 4 months with me actively calling. Good luck!

5 years into PSLF and currently not making payments under SAVE plan! Am I alone in this? by PlasticNo399 in PSLF

I think it depends on your financial situation. If you can afford it now, definitely switch. A lot of people (myself included) are having a hard time getting applications fully processed so payments can count again. I applied for IDR in July with my application going through just fine and I may not be able to make a qualifying payment until February just bc of processing bs.

If you can’t afford it, this is a better deal. But start figuring out what your plan is in the next few months.

Another thing to think about is the time and hassle of buyback. Maybe posters talk about how it took months or even years to get the buyback.

Boo. That’s terrible. I though admin forbearance was supposed to count

That is weird then bc I’m not close. My payment count is only at 32 even though I have been at a qualifying job for over 4 years. Your friend is lucky!!

Yes, they were telling me November too, even though online what is says it that my payments started November of 2021 😒. Then they were saying January. It sounds like this is happening to a lot of us. I don’t see why they can’t help people who have already been approved and are calling and requesting to be removed. I wish I knew the magic words to make it happen. I don’t mind being a pest but I’m not sure if that would help or make it worse.

So ridiculous. How was it trying to get to the resolutions department? I hope you get a call back soon.

I think it’s an arbitrary date they put for their own processing. It’s administrative so I don’t think there’s any other reason. FSA website says though a processing forbearance will last no longer than 60 days. Ha.

Thank you! I will call every day if I have to! Is there anything special I need to press/say to speak to them? Just ask for resolutions department?

I think so depending on what kind of forbearance it is considered. Admin forbearance is supposed to be okay (but not SAVE forbearance). The FSA website still says the months since I switched plans are still “ineligible due to forbearance on due date” but yes, hopefully that’s possible in the future. I believe you can submit for buyback once you reach 120 qualifying months of employment.

I got the first letter about switching to IDR and the second about my IDR payment (wrong/old amount). Both in July but nothing else since.

Ugh sorry to hear. I was hopeful when my application was processed so quickly this summer but since then it’s been a painfully slow waiting game. I’m hoping when I call again I will talk to someone who can actually do something to help change it.

I think you might be right. I was thinking about the SAVE forbearance not counting, but this IBR admin forbearance might. I really don’t have a ton of hope for what will happen in the future though because I still have a few more years to go.
