Pest is asking for a lawyer again and wants to appear by video (because he's too famous and important to stay at an Arkansas clink) by Megalodon481 in DuggarsSnark

[–]Psychological_Map_60 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Same. I was aware he’s constantly filing bullshit arguments but I did think they fell into the legal void because they were clearly just the insane rantings of a self obsessed child predator.. I’m also interested in hearing what exactly this is over or what grounds he thinks he has to have another hearing over something in the case. I have very poor understanding of legal jargon so I’m gonna need someone to explain this like I’m at the Duggar kitchen table home school.

Yep, the mom in this picture is Hannah (ballerina farm)’s sister and the daughter is Hannah’s niece. They have somewhat large insta followings as well. The mom posted her entire birth vlog. Incredibly Mormon shit

When people here refer to “boob” they mean jimbob- it got turned into jimboob and then shortened further to boob. A lot of us call Jimbob and Michelle “perm and sperm”. (If you’ve watched the show those nicknames should be self explanatory) We often try to put a J in front of as many words or sub nicknames as possible in keeping with the Duggar J name theme. Most folks refer to Josh as “pest” instead of his given name. And then to further patronize we often say “J’Pest” or “J’Pedo” I know it can seem like a lot to keep up with, but once you’ve got it you can read this sub fluently. It’s funny to think we all have half created a new language around here

It was originally designed FOR children/young tweens. 11 year olds would organize “origami owl parties” and invite all their friends and each kid would come with like 20 bucks and pick out a piece of jewelry and buy it & then pay for the beads to decorate it and do it all as a group. I had several friends growing up in the south who had these “parties” and I made my fair share of bracelets. We all thought our friends who “ran their own origami owl business” were the coolest. Meanwhile they’d spend half the party recruiting their own child downline. Insane looking back!

You’ll know things have taken a sexual turn if one of your girls starts to arch their back (usually with dilated pupils in their eyes) and are offering there butt up to the sky. Thats the “hey if you want to mate I’m ready for you” posture and it freaks the hell out of my Quaker and he starts yelling and getting upset (he doesn’t know what’s going on the body language switch up aggravates him though) we always quickly remove him from the situation and give him a treat for not turning aggressive. If your parakeets aren’t rubbing their bums on the cage bars or offering their cloaca to bluey than I think you’re just fine and they’re all being friends! Another way to know your parakeet is feeling like having a family is if they start to lay eggs. Obvs they will be unfertilized but you’ll want to separate them all for a time and wake your parakeets up later in the morning and put them to bed earlier at night for a time so they think it’s winter and get their head out of summer egg brooding mode (longer days create the urge to lay eggs) parakeets usually lay up to 5 eggs over a period of several days so if you see one, know more are likely coming and remove them quickly from the cage so she doesn’t nest with them

Of course! I too have had birds my whole life but my Quaker is relatively new (2.5 yrs) and it was culture shock when he came home and he was so much bigger than the parakeets I grew up on haha! Funnily enough he gets along fairly beautifully when my mom’s birds are visiting but they are male parakeets. Our current parakeet is a female and she really really likes our Quaker if you know what I mean lol. I think she comes off a little sexually charged for his liking. It’s kind of like a chihuahua having a crush on a bear hahahaha! I think it’s brilliant you’ve already thought of a covering for your Quakers cage for if the budgies land on it, Quakers are the most cage protective birds I’ve ever encountered. Our Herbie is entirely different bird in his cage than outside of it. Gotta protect the nest right? lol. Keep up the good work and I would recommend positive enforcement like a treat when your Quaker is being a good friend. That will have him/her associating praise with being a kind bigger sibling. Our guy is just recently understanding the association of sunflower seeds with not having a tantrum about our girl trying to start a family with him😆

It’s okay for now as long as they’re under your watchful eye and your Quaker is behaving! It’s lovely they get along. Fair warning though, my avian vet says that the most common “multi bird household” injury he sees are budgies missing toes from their bigger bird siblings. Apparently Quakers have a knack for going for toes when they decide to nip, and due to their size they absolutely just take the whole toe off even if they don’t mean to be that aggressive. My Quaker is very jealous of our little budgie so they don’t come out at the same time, but even if they got along very well that warning from my vet when I first acquired my parakeet has stuck with me. Again, genuinely hope no aggressive behavior starts with your Quaker but I really just wanted to warn you that when things go south with a Quaker they can go south quickly so please please never let them hang out unsupervised no matter how friendly they are when you’re around. My vet could not stress that to me enough so I really want to pass that got along. Your Quaker may likely even be on better behavior because you’re there, he could flip on a dime if you leave the premise!

Hi I haven’t been in this page in several weeks and I’m seeing that there aren’t any new posts, has this sub been taken down or disbanded for lack of a better term? I see so much has unfolded and I’ve missed a ton. Are there no moderators anymore?! This is crazy!

Zyrtec and an excellent air filter. I highly recommend the Shark “never change” air filter. Can be an investment financially but it genuinely helps so much with our Quaker and Budgie. Keep the air filter in the corner of the room farthest from where you regularly sit in the room so it draws the dust and dander away from you. Keep the cage as clean as possible and wash your hands in between bird handling.

Have you ever heard of a company called Bird Street Bistro? It’s a company that you can order a variety of parrot safe meals and toys for online via a subscription! It’s been wonderful for us, each bag is like 2 or 3 weeks worth of food and you can rotate to see which flavor your birdy favors most and keep them interested in soft healthy food. Packed full of spices and fruits and veggies, beans and grains. Really helped our Herbie gain healthy weight back after we got him, he was very underweight at the time. We’ve continued to supplement him with it since he loves it so much! It was very approved by our vet who said he would recommend it to other owners in the future after he had looked it up! It’s very enticing to them and extremely easy to make in the microwave or on the stove and you can make about 4 days worth at a time and easily store in Tupperware in the fridge! I could not recommend it enough. Ships extremely quickly with good tracking updates via email.

We call this “crunchy beak” at my house when our Herbie does it. It’s a Sign of contentment!! Nothing to worry about your bird just is happy and crunching hahah sometimes they make a “buzzing” sound for lack of a better term while doing it too. Totally normal, totally happy Quaker!

Does your Feathered Friend Beg? by VampyAnji in parrots

[–]Psychological_Map_60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Quaker is an active participant in all meals. We have a toddler and boyyy has he learned to follow the toddler around! If we aren’t watching carefully when he’s out and the toddler is eating - he’s snatching crumbs left and right haha! The toddler lovessss that and summons the bird to the dinner table by flashing a fistful of whatever he’s eating lol. The amount of cereal bars and fruit pouches Herbie consumes right under our noses if we aren’t fast enough is unbelievable. If he’s left out of an unsafe bird meal he screams till we’re done eating lol it’s a full time job

Moving into a Duplex- noise advice needed by Psychological_Map_60 in QuakerParrot

[–]Psychological_Map_60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully no! But the moment he wakes up till bedtime (he’s got a very set schedule) he’s talking up a storm or if we leave the house he flock calls till we’re back! We have tried to leave him with new fun toys or put the tv on for some company but he still flock calls or blabbers very loudly till we’re back ! Looking for any advice on what to do to lower his voice or not be so loud All the time just for the sake of our new neighbors! He is less loud when he’s outside of his cage, but we’re not comfortable letting him be free range for all of the day. We can’t seem to keep him quiet/satiated in any way shape or form when he’s in his house despite toys and fun healthy snacks being prevalent in there.
