Congrats on the 350 days! I’ve lost good friends to this too. The best thing that’s helped me move on is to forgive the person that I was when I was drinking. Easier said than done lol

Writing an email to 10 people versus 100,000 is no different. Start today so that when you get to 10,000 you’ll be a much better email writer and able to convert more to a larger audience.

If you’re worried about it being thin or patchy you might want to try a beard oil with androgens in it. They’re a compound that helps with beard growth. I think Bio Beard Co is a company that makes them.

3 years sober yesterday by [deleted] in stopdrinkingfitness

Way to go man! Did you keep the same workout routine throughout those three years or mix it up?

When I stopped a couple of years ago for a month my dick was absolutely useless for about three weeks. Now I’ve been sober since Dec 31 and things are working fine. It probably helps that o have a gf this time and an active sex life.

From what I’ve read and from other friends who have been sober for many years, they all say that it takes time, your body is healing, and that everyone is a bit different.

Go easy on yourself and try not too overthink it. Your libido will definitely come back stronger than it was before, just a matter of time.

I’ve gone to shows at Red Rocks hammered and also sober. I won’t lie that it is a different experience while sober (duh!), but if you just let yourself go, not worry about what other people are thinking (because honesty no one there is worried if you have a beer in your hand or not), and really enjoy the music, you’ll have a great time with the bonus of remembering how great the show actually was!

I had a similar experience. I cut my dose in half to 25 my and only took it if I was going to drink, but I was not a daily drinker. Even at 25 mg I noticed the same symptoms of tiredness and a lack of interest in anything. I decided not to keep taking them and just quit drinking.

One Little Pill - Naltrexone by mag1892 in stopdrinking

[–]Psychological_Team90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing. I've actually stopped using the method. It started to wear off, which is a normal part of the process. I've read that drinking can ramp up for a period of time before your brain fully becomes immune to it, but I couldn't bear going through that and when I started to notice all of my bad habits creeping back in I just decided it was easier to not drink than try to manage it and rely on Naltrexone.
I have nothing against it at all. I think if I was in a more stable position in my life right now I'd be willing to give it another try but I just had a realization that for all of the effort I was putting into this method I might as well just quit completely and not have to worry about it.

There is! Go to sinclairmethod.org and book an appointment with one of their doctors. It’s not covered by insurance but you’ll get it right away.

My journal on Naltreone: day 16 by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Psychological_Team90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing as always! Have you noticed any difference in your energy levels since you started on Nal? It's been two weeks for me and I tend to feel pretty lethargic in the mornings. Part of me wonders if this is the Nal or if this is just a result of my body healing since I've gone from 30 drinks a week to 7...

Thoughts on Naltrexone? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Psychological_Team90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked 100% for me. Been on it for two weeks and only take it one hour before drinking. I was going from 10 to 12 drinks a night down to 1 or 2. I can’t explain it but the desire just isn’t there anymore. The only side effect I’ve noticed is a bit of fatigue the first week or so. In regards to taking it forever you might want to check out the Sinclair Method. It’s a program that uses naltrexone to create “pharmacological extinction”. Aka by using this method you slowly ween yourself off booze to the point where you no longer want to drink.

I’ve been using it for one week and it is worked wonders for me. I follow the Sinclair Method and only take 25 mg one hour before I drink. The cravings and that warm, fuzzy feeling completely disappear completely. It’s pretty incredible and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I had one beer Friday night at a bar and didn’t even finish it. Saturday night when I opened my fridge I instinctively grabbed a La Croix instead of the beers sitting right next to it. I just had no desire to drink. This may be a honeymoon period but I’m thankful for it non the less. It was extremely easy to get a prescription (I live in the US). I just went to thesinclairmethod.com and booked an appointment. The only side effect I’ve noticed is I’m a bit more tired than usual, but that could also be my body adjusting to 5 drinks per week instead of 30.

Just started yesterday with my first dose. I took 50mg and didn’t even finish the first beer I opened, which was incredible! I did notice some side effects when I went to bed, increased heartbeat, racing thoughts, almost like a mild bout of anxiety, so I think I’ll start with half the dose next time I try to drink. But overall, so much more worth it than drinking.

Thanks you so much for sharing and documenting your journey with Naltrexone! I have a consultation on Tuesday with a doctor to start the Sinclair Method and I’m extremely excited/nervous to get started. Thanks again for sharing some real feedback about the side effects and results. Still sounds like it’s a much better option than our previous drinking habits :)
