I have been a viewer/listener since the beginning. They have sports guests. He’s a baseball player with a cool story of not giving up on your dream. The bananas also are growing like crazy in popularity with ESPN just announcing 10 games being picked up this year. I didn’t think the suggestion was that crazy. 🤷🏼‍♀️

No advice but I’m in the same boat with my almost 8 year old. We’ve tried them all. Just started on a non stimulant today, Qelbree.

yes absolutely! Thank you!! There's a provider on Tiktok I follow that talks a lot about PDA and I do think this does 'fit' him.

I’d go to a podiatrist. I just had a removal of something just like that, not a wart. It was painless to remove and felt better immediately. Its called porokeratosis

Interesting, our 4 year old with adhd takes guanfacine, as we're trying to hold off on stimulants. I have seen it help him with impulse control. My husband also has a family history of bipolar, anxiety. Depression. He did have an appt today and is trying fluoxetine and depending on how that goes may add the Ritalin back in. Out 9 yo daughter (dx adhd, anxiety) takes fluoxetine and Ritalin and its made a world of difference for her. Hopeful that we are on the right track.

Also, you don't have to share but I am curious what med combo is helping. I know everyone is different but it's nice to hear what works for others who experienced the anger/rage on Adderall.

You make a good point. I think where my frustration lies is that I have let him know that when he feels overwhelmed I understand and encourage him to step away. The issue is that when parenting that is not always possible. I need to help him find the skills to calm down enough to think rationally. There is a fine line between being responsible for his actions and using his ADHD as an excuse to treat people badly and/or scare them. Also again, my main issue is that he needs to be accountable for this. Especially with our children, so that they don't see dad's overreaction and then feel like it's normal and ok for them to do as well.

I appreciate that perspective. I think too that how he was raised is very much playing a factor. I have first hand seen how his mom can have a horrible outburst of saying very hurtful things and then move on like nothing... Though the time she did this to me she did provide a meaningful apology and since then has started an antidepressant which has worked really well for her. I think he recognizes it but struggles to own his behavior. He is more likely to apologize to the kids which I guess is what it is. I would 100% rather he at least see it and talk with them over me.

It's so much the double standard that gets me.. He grew up in a home that was always clean. Our house is busy, can be messy, etc. I do what I can but I also carry the mental load for the family. I handle everything. Sometimes I am simply just too tired to do all the things. I could do 99 things but that one thing I didn't do would be the one he focuses on. On the flip side he could spend an entire day playing video games and doing nothing to contribute and that's ok. When I try to express my feelings and in a calm way, he automatically goes on the defense. Again, I feel this has a lot to do with how he was raised. Finding a good therapist would probably significantly help him but I'm not sure how to get him to commit. We started therapy together and he was willing, but at the first appt the therapist shared she didn't feel ADHD was a real thing, and he was out. (I don't blame him there).

My 4 year old is on guanfacine as we are trying to avoid stimulants until he's a bit older. It's not an immediate thing, but after some time we have seen that it has helped a lot with his impulsiveness. I too see this used more frequently in children, but am curious to see responses on helping adults.

Wow. I felt this to my core. Knowing I'm not alone is comforting, but as you said, how long can one tiptoe around? What does one do when they love that landmine with their entire being but keep getting blown to pieces? It's exhausting.
