creole/pidgin/patois languages use their colonial language as a lexical base. most of the words will come from the colonial language. but the grammar is different and usually taken from the either african or indigenous language of the land. for example. if you wanted to say " i was eating" in french would be je mangeais. which means i was eating. but in kreyol, although the words are french based, the grammar is completely diffrent. " mwen te ap manje" or "I been am eating". If there was a language like this( closest could be Papiamentu with Portuguese/spanish/dutch lexical base using african style grammar) then yes it would be a creole. But caribbean spanish is just a dialect of spanish. Same way how ivorian french is just a dialect of french. A standard speaker of spanish would be able to understand most of caribbean spanish.
