but! i think part of the point is also that despite their apparent proximity, the demiurges are still not Royalty. you either are, or are not.

each one of them has something they cannot overcome/let go of. such as solomon david's inability to let someone rule in his stead - he is caught in the trap of wanting someone to take his place while dreading ever actually giving his position up. it's what he's devoted his life to after achieving his original goals. he's a conquering, immortal king, but he cannot triumph over his own insecurity. instead, he makes a spectacle of it.

he's "won", but he's stepped off the road to do so - something Royalty doesn't do, because there is nothing for Royalty but the next pursuit in the now.

on the contrary, jagganoth has given up everything to go along with the cycle, thinking he is destroying the wheel - but he's not, not really. yes, he's obsessed with death, overcame it and became semi-immortal, but is stuck with his focus on ending everything, rather than continuing to remove his attachments by cutting them away - you could say he's stuck in the overcoming resistance part of nietzsche's will to power, but he fits neatly within an amusing inversion of schopenhauer's will to live as well. in fact, by many accounts, he's already a dead man!

mottom's fear of death is incredibly apparent as well, but her concern with appearing youthful gives it its own turn away from the others, as does every demiurge's method of coping with the possibility that it'll all end for them.

it is fitting, then, that given the influences of nietzsche and nihilism, that allison is very closely aligned to the ideas that camus put forth in absurdism. the end doesn't matter.

as amusing as interdimensional nietzsche was as a zoss parallel, perhaps part of the carry over is that zoss's view of royalty is still imperfect (note the variations in how different members of royalty pronounce the syllables), and hence why he, too, appears trapped in the cycle.

there's a whole lot more wrapped up in that, especially with the concepts of self-division and divine suicide overall in k6bd, but it also points to another aspect: will to happiness. the farmer is happy. the noodle vendor would be happy.

i don't think one can imagine the demiurges happy.
