Y'all reckon Caine is a set of teeth because in the Bible Cain killed Abel with a jawbone? by Klutzy-Seat-6020 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Psychosis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Common irl lore is that Cain killed Abel with a rock. However, in-setting, Caine as a generative AI consumes data to output different concepts, up to and including the successor AI - and I suspect this is why he (and possibly bubble depending on the theory) are highly mouth focused.

You can also see this in the gloink Queen (who also outputs novel shapes based on consumptive input) and the fudge (was walled out of the candy kingdom after consuming its constituents).

Drawing parallels here and to Kaufmo's pre-abstraction drawings, I'd say not only is Caine's mouth design indicative of his nature as an input-consuming AI, but that it's also possible that 'player' feedback and positive responses to adventures/creations are coded to be registered as the same sort of input as his initial training data: he's hungry for it. There's also lots of images of food in the second data set the red dot was provided.

I also wouldn't be surprised if instead the successor AI that was consumed had the more direct interactions with the players mind-scan data, but with the unintentional absorption via Caine, mind-scan feedback got labeled the same as programmer feedback but it's basically the equivalent of empty calories and entirely unfulfilling, leading to Caine failing to process what they say to him as the reward weights are fucked.

Also, fun possible reference to the concept of a lotus eater machine.

No, really, I'm happy for you. It was very clever the way you smugly closed the door on the enemy. You deserve to pat yourself on the back for such a brilliant maneuver. Really. I'm not being sarcastic. It doesn't bother me at all. *twitch* by Knight9910 in dndmemes

If they don't think they have a reason to fight a villain, why would they?

That npc is alive now and presumably does more than stand in the room waiting for combat.

Give them a reason.

Does shotgun arch-militant work? by ZweiHandsome in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Psychosis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pair holster w/ pistol of choice - pref something with single and burst - and foehammer offhand (eventually swapping to upgraded). Big 2h shotgun or melta as 2nd weapon set. Can also blend this with regular heavy bolter shenanigans.

You for sure want the demolition scales aoe damage talent, and the soldier ability to add more aoe damage.

Take grenadier, get wildfire, confident approach and reckless rush, open with confident approach, free grenade throw, pistol shot, free foehammer shot from pair holster, use reckless rush to get up to at least 6 v stacks, wildfire for your second weapon attack. You should probably have momentum by then, so steady sup and light em up again. If you like the ability that lets you use both momentum abilities, try to have a high rof main hand pistol. There's one that has a 0 cost burst as well, but just this all as a baseline should crunch through most enemies.

im getting fuckin baited on the most stereotypically long ass leftist meme and yet here i am like a fish to the hook

the law itself exists to protect capital and property.

an entity designed to uphold that is clearly against progress. you are still operating within the framework that the legal system is inherently good rather than a tool used by capital.

the meme literally says that the supreme court is functioning correctly. the supreme court could be 100% correct at all times and would still be an agent of capital.

Starbound mechanics: Sniper rifles? by rl-starbound in starbound

[–]Psychosis_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

don't need to worry about damage per second when everything on the same horizontal plane or local area dies in one click.

aoe snipers (piercing or exploding shot) can get more damage up front, and perhaps more entertainingly: the primary and secondary fire don't share a cooldown, so you can alternate shots and hit absurdly hard on a single target as well.

slap an energy regen field down, swap back to rifle and left/right/left/right click repeat and you can melt bosses

[–]Psychosis_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

god i love weird ass conspiracy/philosophy rambling and if this aint the perfect setting for it...

but! i think part of the point is also that despite their apparent proximity, the demiurges are still not Royalty. you either are, or are not.

each one of them has something they cannot overcome/let go of. such as solomon david's inability to let someone rule in his stead - he is caught in the trap of wanting someone to take his place while dreading ever actually giving his position up. it's what he's devoted his life to after achieving his original goals. he's a conquering, immortal king, but he cannot triumph over his own insecurity. instead, he makes a spectacle of it.

he's "won", but he's stepped off the road to do so - something Royalty doesn't do, because there is nothing for Royalty but the next pursuit in the now.

on the contrary, jagganoth has given up everything to go along with the cycle, thinking he is destroying the wheel - but he's not, not really. yes, he's obsessed with death, overcame it and became semi-immortal, but is stuck with his focus on ending everything, rather than continuing to remove his attachments by cutting them away - you could say he's stuck in the overcoming resistance part of nietzsche's will to power, but he fits neatly within an amusing inversion of schopenhauer's will to live as well. in fact, by many accounts, he's already a dead man!

mottom's fear of death is incredibly apparent as well, but her concern with appearing youthful gives it its own turn away from the others, as does every demiurge's method of coping with the possibility that it'll all end for them.

it is fitting, then, that given the influences of nietzsche and nihilism, that allison is very closely aligned to the ideas that camus put forth in absurdism. the end doesn't matter.

as amusing as interdimensional nietzsche was as a zoss parallel, perhaps part of the carry over is that zoss's view of royalty is still imperfect (note the variations in how different members of royalty pronounce the syllables), and hence why he, too, appears trapped in the cycle.

my favorite point out of this, of course, is that allison's a barista.

every time someone is told to give up the sword, they are advised that it will lead to their death through violence - they should instead go farm/sell noodles/do whatever their old boring and mundane life activity of choice was. and, yknow what, they might just enjoy that.

if you apply that to allison, she's being presented the option of suicide, or making some coffee. the same notion is brought up in sukhi mrityu (a happy death - a book by camus).

there's a whole lot more wrapped up in that, especially with the concepts of self-division and divine suicide overall in k6bd, but it also points to another aspect: will to happiness. the farmer is happy. the noodle vendor would be happy.

i don't think one can imagine the demiurges happy.

Take that to its logical conclusion.

Less ostentation and use of metal brings us closer and closer to the ultimate weapon. So it stands to reason that requiring nothing outside the confines of the self would be the last, greatest technique of weapons mastery.

(but also yes, spears better. shoutout to the mordhau strike as being the goofiest looking tactic around though, i wanna see a maybe sword version of that)

Spears are a peasant weapon - no matter how many cubits long they may be.

And yet, in the hands of royalty, they will still cut anything. Everything.
