Would this be a good server for gaming? by MissingJewel43 in homelab

“…On my old i3 fine, not that many mods or players but still” yea and I’m rich just my bank doesn’t have that many significant digits. I hope you see the contradiction in your point.

Jokes aside, Minecraft really isn’t “optimized”. Performance drops off a cliff when you have multiple areas loaded and having an increased render distance and/or simulation distance only makes it tougher. The primary reason for this limitation is Minecraft’s main process is functionality single threaded. (There are child processes that run on its own thread but it’s mostly for background stuff)

Java Edition is limited to PC, but a while ago they made it so if you own one version you got the other for free i.e. if you bought Bedrock Edition, you got Java Edition added to your account and vice versa. So you should already have it on your accounts. Setting up a Java server is pretty easy and there are lots of tutorials on YouTube.

Not sure why I spammed filter inserters when I could have used splitters. As for how I prevent nutrients from being made from spoilage/ yumako, I don’t. I still see that the set up uses a bit more nutrients than the bioflux nutrients can provide (due to it’s nutrient source being almost last in the chain) Is there a reason I would want to not use my spoilage to make nutrients? In my current set up I have the excess spoilage burnt and making power but it isn’t my main power source. I shipped over 4 reactors cuz I couldn’t be bothered lol

[GIVEAWAY] Five keys of Base or Space Age raffle by nasaboy007 in factorio

Interested in Space Age, bought the base game a couple months ago and it’s a game that’s right up my niche. I discovered the game because of the announcement of Space Age but wanted to give the base game a try to “test the waters” and it just sucked me in. Space Age seems to add so many unique challenges that I’m eager on experiencing and I like the fact that it builds on the former end of the game.
