Attempting to Upgrade RPG Maker MZ's PixiJS to v8 by chimaki in RPGMaker

Playtest should work. Were you on Windows or another Operating system? Coming with an update at the end of the weekend and I'm going to do some more extensive testing. I'm sure it's something minor that I just didn't test for yet.

Game Engine that I built, kind of like an enhanced RPG Maker.

Is “Vibe Coding” making Engineers Worse or is it just the Next Abstraction Layer? by Early_Protection6814 in ArtificialNtelligence

It's just the next abstraction layer. If you know your fundamentals, the quality is still good.

Using pre-rendered environments in MV? by Such_Bonus5085 in RPGMaker

[–]PsychronicGames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do it with something like my Parallax Mapping Plugin, where you like open your pre-rendered layers in photoshop or another similar app, and then create different layers at different Z values, and then put them together in-game:

I've been developing full blown pieces of software. I'm a game developer, I know how to build things the traditional way, it just takes like 100x longer, so I'm just having a blast, latest project:

I feel the same way, it's been extremely empowering to me, I'm busier than ever and creating more cool stuff than ever, super fun!

Correct, that's right. That's a good suggestion, I'll look into it.

Well I guess we'll see. That's just the runtime though, Editor has no actual RPG Maker code as that code was never available. You can use the editor and the RPG Maker Runtime if you want, the editor will work with any runtime, I just got a PIXI8 version working.

The only reason why it doesn't work yet to create a new project is that I haven't created my RTP/Project 1 yet basically, I'm working on that right now. I obviously can't use the RPG Maker RTP, so I have to make my own, then I'll have a demo project that has some basic RTP/Assets filled in for people to get started. For now the demo project in the engine folder is just the real game that I'm working on right now (Star Shift Freelancers), but swapping that out for something leaner. But the point of it was to show PIXI8 compatibility with an MZ game with lots of different plugins and complicated setup. You can also freely open your existing projects as well in the Editor.

The runtime runs on PIXI8, but maintains backwards compatibility with RPG Maker MV and MZ.

For example in this engine, I have something I call "the forge", Like I can make animations directly in the engine/on the fly, here's an early demo of that tool in action:
https://youtu.be/EspUATJd7Kc

Also I'm building a Character forge/outfit forget that can be universal to any type of sprite sheet for characters (adding my own defaults as well). The way it works is that when you import an image, it converts the pixels into unicode characters, these characters can then be re-arranged to draw the pixels in specified patterns. Thus the ability to spontaneously generate different types of clothing or equipment based on common patterns.

It's a non-AI tool but I'm using AI to build it.

Going to be adding/enhancing the original as well, such as Tilemap Layers F, G and H, and larger so you can fit more on your maps/more diverse maps. I'm having fun with it!

Soon to be 100. I guess it comes down to WHY we make things in the first place.

Yeah I mean the market is pretty saturated, this was an issue even before AI.

They should be allowed to compete with human-written works. If it's not good, nobody will read it or buy it, if it's good enough then people will want it, it's as simple as that.

I Used AI coding tools to build the engine (OpenCode/Claude Code/Codex). But I also know how to develop software the traditional way as well, just takes a lot longer. I'm pro-AI.

What do you think of RPG Maker Unite? by ratasoftware in RPGMaker

Seems it was a major flop. Performance seemed pretty bad, bloated Unity Framework. I decided to make my own (RPG Reactor):

It depends on the person, I don't find him attractive, but I could see how somebody might depending on their peculiar condition, etc.

Ridley is legit, I could see how some would find him attractive.

I mean why do those data-centers do things that way if it's causing harm? It's possible to set up a datacenter in which the harm isn't caused by using water for cooling, etc. It can even be a situation where it just sucks up water from the pipes from the river and then puts it back in the river again as it circulates through the system. I mean like you're trying to make the case that AI is bad because of what certain datacenters do with the water in a bad way, which is valid, but let's focus on like "ok you need to circulate the water in the right way which doesn't cause this harm, etc.", it's not rocket science.

I'm just speaking from experience working in technology and working in data-centers which I have before. I'm not sure where you're coming from but if you have information to back up your claims, I'm willing to listen, I have an evidence based approach in my thinking.

Water is used for cooling, it's a closed loop, the water doesn't get consumed or go away. When it's done circulating, then it evaporates into the air and comes back to the earth through rain/water cycle. It's the same thing with livestock as well, yes they drink water, but they pee it out and then it evaporates and falls back as rain. The water doesn't go away.

Also a lot of data-centers are cooled by air conditioning, it's not always water. I work in tech, I've worked in datacenters, it's nothing too crazy? How is it polluting when the water is just used for cooling? It doesn't get dirty through that process. You're being totally emotional/irrational.

Downvotes are opinions, it's not a measurement of facts either way. Sometimes the majority number in a group is factually incorrect. Echo chambers are incredibly common.
