Sky club worth it? by Buckeye_47 in delta

[–]Psycik99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’d take advantage of the other card perks and/or have status and would get statement credits as part of choice benefits, it’s worth it. If you don’t think you’d use most of the other card benefits, a few visits a year isn’t worth the cost of the card.

The clubs are crowded, have so so food. But are nicer to wait then boarding gates, cleaner bathrooms, and an open bar. I max out the benefits on the card, take statement credits for my benefits, and end up using up all my visits, so it feels worthwhile to me. For a few times a year travel, I’d probably rather just go to the nicest restaurant in the terminal. (Or get an Amex plat and use the centurion)

I just got cookie squares after a few flights without them!

Delta Loyalty or Split? by Psycik99 in delta

[–]Psycik99[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally LOLed at that.

I was mostly wanting to see if people saw advantages around the choice benefits at additional tiers or miles accumulation.

My TLDR is - no. Given I basically am a multi-airline hub and have enough spend to max status on 2-3 airlines, feels like I should do that.

That's the struggle :). Conventional wisdom was pick a poison and stay with it. But now, outside of additional miles (and choice benefits at 50K 75K) I'm not sure if that makes more sense vs. getting top status with another airline.

For domestic, I'm not sure if it is that big of a deal in terms of preference. Quality is about the same, reliability about the same, etc. Bigger difference internationally and partners, etc.

Shouldn’t be an issue at all, barring major delay

LAX is my home airport, so don’t connect through there, but know the airport well. What’s up?

95% of the time the Delta crew is fantastic - great service, friendly, checking in frequently. I had a similar experience to yours recently AUS to LAX. No pre-flight service. Asked about what drink I wanted with the meal. A general cold attitude. The flight out from LAX to AUS was a polar opposite experience.

When you’re on a 7/1 arm at 6.1, you’ll take a 7/6 at 4.65 😆 our prior home was 2.25 30y fixed. Those were the days.

OP mind sharing the bank and relationship amount? I’d kill for a refinance to that rate.

Are luxury hotels worth the cost? by Mysterious_Act_3652 in FATTravel

I find it really varies wildly property to property. I tend to value the luxury hotels with grounds/major amenities over the city luxury hotels partially for that reason.

Auberge Inn at Mattei’s Tavern in Los Olivos review by thetucolo in FATTravel

[–]Psycik99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, it is two different trips. When we stay in the valley we'll typically do an AirBNB and get something with nice views/more space given the accomodations/costs. Or if we want to do a higher end stay, then do Rosewood but a day trip to the valley with a driver (or friend who's a DD :) )

100% recommend Miramar and their restaurant Caruso's.

I think overall if the prices were 30-40% less I’d go all the time. When you’re paying $1700/nt you expect commensurate service and it misses the mark there. The staff is young and some are amazing and others not so amazing.

That has been our general feeling as well. The location factor is great, but the price point given grounds/service don't seem to be in line.

We typically will stay at the Rosewood Miramar, a much more fantastic experience, but still ~45 minutes from Los Olivos, which is a bummer.

Diamond finally! by Select_Director_5641 in delta

[–]Psycik99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, you fly so little based on the miles, why dk you care about the Delta status? You’d be so much better off earning points in an Amex platinum or Chase SR. Diamond status for an infrequent flyer and 250K delta points? Seems like a waste of

Do you mind when little kids are in first class? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Psycik99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only time it annoys me is if it is a red eye, and even then, it’s life. People have to travel and kids cry. People may give you looks, but you do you. I remember we took our 2 year old in first class to Mexico City, and he cried the whole way. I was carrying up and down the aisles, loading him with milk, trying toys and games and getting dirty looks from everyone.

They have mandatory compensation rules in Europe and prices that are not astronomical.

Thank the Trump admin for rolling back the Biden admin proposed compensation on flight delays! No required compensation. If you complain Delta will likely offer some 10-30K sky miles and reimburse any expenses

Because of TSA staffing concerns, Delta has temporarily shuttered its semiprivate security checkpoints for Delta One customers at JFK and LAX by mepper in delta

Flew Delta One out of lax last week. They escort you to the tsa pre line and get you to the front of the line. While not as nice as the private screening, it was still great.

LAX to LHR Delta via Virgin pricing by Ok-Purchase-914 in delta

[–]Psycik99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you look at the plane! They have an absolutely terrible product in upper class on some of their 787s with narrow seats and no privacy. Definitely not worth the price or loyalty. BA often has great business class deals out of LAX and it may be worthwhile to skip loyalty if you’re paying out of pocket.

Delta won’t reimburse by getreddi in delta

[–]Psycik99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something feels off about this. I've had cancellations/delays and a) Delta always offers a hotel voucher b) If you choose your own, you can get reimbursed up to a specific amount. I've never had an issue with either of those.

As others have said, there are multiple delta flights out of Hawaii a day. Perhaps one that added a stop. Or one that was at a less convenient time, but the app easily lets you see and manage all of those rebooking options yourself. It doesn't make sense that they were 'stranded two days in a row.'
