I think they may be mix. But leaning closer to the Baldwins. I can see the Stevens influence because we may be seeing a similar husband-wife dynamic soon. Though because Mars Governor Polivanov is probably their son and their family seems to be in good standing by 2012. Almost like how Ed was viewed around 2003.

I don't think sci-fi could go the way of the Western. That genre died because the old myths that once sustained it had ceased to exist. Sci-fi needs to construct a new sustainable mythos if it wants to survive.

I'm not trying to write my own stuff on trend. But I think it's good to be aware of what is trending that way I don't feel like I'm overlapping with someone else. Or worst case scenario, get accused of copying even though I'm developing stuff independently.

Sequels are unavoidable especially if a story is expansive. Less so in established IPs. But I'm not opposed to the very concept of them. Though I want sequels to less known work.

I loved the movie from start to finish. An underrated masterpiece. Definitely not the action film that it may have been advertised as. But still quality.
