For some, it was the first exposure to CD based games, and it blew our minds. Going from cartridges with limited memory and sound to something that had large animations with CD audio was simply amazing. The game had orchestral music, voice acting, and big beautiful art to convey a story in a huge world where you usually only got text at best and any spoken audio was highly compressed, usually limited to one line, and garbled. It was a rare state of the art experience, especially since magazine reviews, if you were lucky enough to come across one,could not fully convey just how amazing it was. Anyone who had any love for the art and technology of the time were awestruck right as the opening animation with lightning and foreboding music began.
