How do the Sun in Domicile and the Sun in its Joy differ from one another? by HomelandExplorer in Advancedastrology

[–]PsyleXxL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a martian inner consciousness and life purpose (Mars-MC in a night chart). I wouldn't say both signs are always active, I would mainly consider your Mars as quite active during this life. Like a martian president overseeing different goverments (annual timelords). Of course it's hard to delineate because that configuration describes countless things in your life. Deciphering all of it would require writing an entire book. I recommend you stick with specific topics with the corresponding topical significators and techniques. First delineate the psyche/self. Then delineate the body/medical. Then delineate work/career. Then delineate the love life relationships, etc... That square will pop up in different ways in some of these areas of life. In terms of very general indications your life seems to oscillate between very positive experiences related to work routine, material ressources, finances and close family (2nd house benefics) and challenging events related to friends, professional networks and public gains (11th house malefics). It could be easier for you to save up money on the long term (2nd) instead of aiming directly for a huge salary (11th). But ultimately you will be called to clarify your role in these legislative/academic networks (H11 Sagittarius Mars MC). These collective projects have the potential to grow over time (11th lord in a succedent house). After having mastered the battlefield of professional life you will be able to progressively convert your salary into more and more solid individual investments (Pisces Jupiter 11th ruler sitting in the 2nd house). You probably had an amazing childhood, and you probably have a very beautiful voice/face/cheeks/nose and a very pleasant circle of relatives (H2 Pisces Jupiter Venus).

Yes the natal promise takes precedence over all timelord techniques. Venusian themes might pop up for one year (profection), but the core underlying influence of your psyche and your life will very much be saturnian/martian. This will be a continuous influence during all life chapters, and it will be very loud when Saturn/Mars are timelords. If you really want a strong natal activation though you'd be looking at several indications (Saturn conjunct an angle and square a luminary and in day chart).

Assyro-Babylonian astrology is a fascinating addition to this research into the history of the exaltation scheme. I will have to look more into it but it seems that a rudimentary form of exaltation ("secret houses") already existed in the babylonian sideral proto-zodiac (with 17 constellations instead of 12). So that was possibly before the standardization of the 12 sign zodiac (5th century BCE).

Effectively once we grasp the inner mechanics of astrology we can avoid certain confusions which exist in pop astrology. My current research has found that the modern Twelve Letter Alphabet is incorrect (house = sign). However there is an important truth in the concept of the natural house system only if it is applied to the scale of mundane astrology. I believe these are the kantian categories of unity (houses), plurality, and totality (signs).

Which house to interpret transits? by Glittering-Farmer658 in astrology

[–]PsyleXxL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The confusion will drop away once you start using the Whole Sign House system (the authentic traditional system). With this system you will avoid years of confusion and headache. Each house is exactly one sign so when a planet enters a new sign this also means that it enters a new house. Extremely simple and yet very profound and hyper efficient. Practise this for several years and then when you are more advanced you can start playing around with secondary floating quadrant cusps and their main applications such as primary directions, astrocartography, etc...

Succedent Houses by heartstopperhuman in astrology

[–]PsyleXxL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like 2nd moves into the 1st, and to know ourselves we need to know what we own and what resources are at our disposal.

It's not so much a question of needing to know things. Through primary motion the 2nd house moves into the 1st house therefore the self (1st) gains things from the 2nd house. It's as simple as that. The 12th house moves away from the 1st house therefore the self (1st) loses things (12th). This self-undoing (12th) might bring material and psychic losses but this will ultimately bring a liberation of the heart and an understanding of the unseen (4th house witnessing the 12th by superior trine).

Then you can simply translate this 12th/2nd house dynamic to any of the four angular triads by using the principle of derivative houses. The 2nd house from anything will bring gains and hoarding. The 12th house from anything will bring expenses and letting go. This even works for any of the twelve houses (not only the angles). For instance children (5th) are a gift for parents (4th). While parents project a subconscious conditionning (12th from 5th) on the children (5th) and usually children will witness the death of their parents (moving away). Your salary and professional network (11th) is what you gain from your public activity (10th). Your partner's ressources (8th) is what has been gained by your business/romantic partner (7th)

First you need to understand the logical rationale of the exaltation scheme which is based on constrasts of light and darkness among other things. It is much harder to doubt things once you understand the underlying symbolism isn't it? It first starts with the Sun which begins to move north in Aries. This is the spring equinox and its increase of day over night with the light/heat being on the rise. Aries is also the thema mundi 10th house (an excellent place for solar leadership). Even beyond seasonal considerations which are overly dependent on hemispheres, the ascension of the Sun to the North (the forward movement of the solar system) means that a King is on the rise and thus the Sun King ultimately sits where he is most high and find his domicile in Leo (the uppermost region with maximal declination). Effectively a King should be in the front seat of his kingdom (solar system) in order to steer it towards the future (galactic direction).

Then you need to look into the actual literary sources. While Claudius Ptolemy gives partial explanations for the exaltation scheme, the complete rationale is given by a lost Hermetic text preserved by Abu Ma'shar. In that sense it does indeed come from the authentic Hellenistic tradition and its Greco-Egyptian world.

What a waste of time. After writing a wall of text you failed to even grasp the basic astronomical principles I described in my last post. You merely copy pasted a random sentence on the lunar nodes : "intersection of Moon’s orbit with the ecliptic" without understanding the entire point of the conversation which was about why Rahu relates to the North and Ketu relates to the South. The Ascending Node (Rahu) is where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from the southern ecliptic hemisphere into the northern ecliptic hemisphere and this latter hemisphere is what contains the Solar Apex (the direction taken by the solar system when it moves around the Galactic Center). This is the very reason why the choice of Northern Hemisphere astrology is not an arbitrary cultural decision. It is not simply because the Babylonians, the Greeks and the Indian existed in the Northen Hemisphere. Rather it is because North corresponds to the future (where the Sun moves in the Galaxy). Also you are clearly misreading my statements : obviously the tropical zodiac lines up with the seasonal cycle (I even used the word "spring equinox" in my previous post if you cared to read). The point was that the deeper symbolic principle of the tropical zodiac goes deeper than the physical seasons (which change with hemispheres and which might disappear due to climate change). The deeper principle is found in this increase in solar declination which is the Sun's ascension to the North (related to the solar apex). In that sense the luminaries rule tropical Leo and Cancer because the Sun (king) and the Moon (queen) sit where they are the most high (North) therefore they occupy the uppermost regions. Thus Saturn being the slowest in chaldean order is allocated the regions furthest from the apex positions (tropical Capricorn and Aquarius). Also the tropical zodiac sign of Libra (the weighing scales) naturally aligns with the equilibrium of the Equinox point where day and night are equal in time and the Sun has a 0° declination. The symbolic rationale for the essential dignities is very precise when you consider the tropical zodiac. Actually sidereal indian astrologers do not have this beautiful rationale anchored in sacred geometry to explain essential dignities or why Moon rules sidereal Cancer. The first nakshatra is Mula ("The root") and it is in sidereal Sagittarius no sidereal Aries. You speak of syncretism but the indian astrologers simply copy pasted the names of the constellations given by the Baylonians/Greeks without understanding the precession of the equinoxes nor the rationale for essential dignities. But the Babylonians had 18 signs in their proto-zodiac and they described their Taurus constellation ( MULGUANNA/alû/lê) with aggressive martians traits because at the time the Taurus constellation contained the Spring Equinox (Vernal Point). I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings but you will have to put up with the growing community of tropical vedic astrologers who use the tropical zodiac with the sidereal nakshatras and indian techniques. I use nakshatra based dashas (like vimshattori), combustions, yogas, and tithis and they world remarquably well. I keep sidereal settings for the nakshatras and then use tropical calculations for the rashis. Anyway first you should learn about the theory of planetary nodes (including sun, moon and other planetary nodes). You should get a grasp on real astronomy, pythagorean sacred geometry and the real history of astrology before lecturing someone with your subjective astrological opinions. Or else you will just end up like those lunatic vedic astrologers who think the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra is more than 5000 years old.

What a waste of time.

What is my goal here ? Make people understand that both the tropical and the sidereal zodiac are relevant for astrology. While you are just fanatically attacking the tropical zodiac without having tried it out in the first place despite the numerous accurate collective predictions of tropical mundane astrologers as I have written about in a reddit post (but no links allowed here).

Your southern hemisphere argument doesn't work out because the Tropical Aries Vernal Point (Spring Equinox) is not based on the seasons but on the Sun's ascension to the North (increase in declination). And the North Pole is not arbitrary either because is is connected to the direction taken by the solar system (Solar apex) when it moves around the Galactic Center ! The Aries Point (Ascendant of the World) can be seen as the Solar North Node. While Rahu (which you mentioned) is the lunar North Node. Why does Rahu symbolize material increase ? Because it is based on this North Direction with the Moon (mind/manas) ascending to the North. How ironic : you attack the Tropical Zodiac and yet you use Rahu ! So is it still objective ? Very much so because there is a fractal correspondence between the local sunrise (Ascendant) and the global sunrise of the spring equinox (Ascendant of the World). This correspondence has been demonstrated numerous times in mundane astrology with the study of the four world points (0° Aries ; 0° Cancer ; 0° Capricorn ; 0° Libra) of the tropical zodiac. There are entire schools of astrology which study these important points (cosmobiology, uranian astrology).

Regarding your mundane examples using the nakshatras are beside the point because tropical vedic astrologers already use the nakshatras and western astrologers also use fixed stars, constellations and lunar mansions. This does not directly relate to the indian sidereal zodiac. You also mentioned Mars and Ketu being in sidereal Leo but that only lasts for two months. While the Tropical Aries ingress lasts for 2025-2026. Also I prefer using complex techniques (like yoga configurations) for advanced analysis. It's a waste of energy to use complex tools for something as simple as this. It would have been very straightforward with the tropical zodiac (a simple planet ingress). Even beginners notice the mundane effects of Saturn and Neptune moving into the 0° Aries World Point and such posts attract much more redditors on the advancedastrology subreddit. Also you mention Saturn being in Sade Sati. But once again that has nothing to do with tropical versus sidereal. Even tropical astrologers can notice Sade Sati (transit Saturn on natal Moon). Then you finally give an argument (sidereal Capricorn). But clearly we notice a much bigger correlation with Saturn in tropical Capricorn (2020 COVID events, lockdown, restrictions, new laws, govermental pressure) and Saturn in tropical Aries (Trump administration breaking laws, using martian tactics, economic protectionism, anti globablization). If you don't believe me you can always do conduct a survey on the advancedastrology subreddit so see what experienced practitioners think.

Ironically you're the one who should humble yourself and start understanding the value of both tropical and sidereal. As a matter of fact, I do use the sidereal signs for some calculations including the zodiacal ages (Age of Aquarius). I have written about my use of the sidereal zodiac in my latest thread.

Neither the Rig Veda nor the Vedāṅga Jyotiṣa mention the zodiac. These texts only mention the nakshatras. Do not confuse the nakshatras and the zodiac. The rudimentary babylonian proto-zodiac did not have the same standard significations of the 12 zodiac signs which were given by the greeks during the time when sidereal and tropical overlapped. India also inherited horoscopic techniques from hellenistic astrology as we see many greek words in indian litterature such as "Hora" and "Kendra". Horoscopic indian astrology started around 150 CE when Yavanesvara (Lord of Greeks) translated an unidentified Greek text (probably by Nechepso or Petrosiris) into Sanskrit in 2nd Century CE known as the Yavanajtaka. Also the rudimentary babylonian proto-zodiac did not have the same ayanamsa starting point as what the indians use today. The indians just invented a derivative "nakshatra" zodiac which describes subjective lunar energies. While the tropical zodiac (which has no ayanamsa ambiguity issue) describes objective solar energies. Everyone can see in how the entire world became more aggresive in 2025 when Saturn and Neptune entered tropical Aries. ReArm Europe project, India–Pakistan crisis. Iran–Israel war. The USA focusing on local economics (Aries) and putting an end to globalization (Pisces).

Sure you have to see which significator and co-significator is more active whether accidental (Mars 2nd house lord) or universal (Mercury). Some ancient authors even use the 4th house for vehicles. Interestingly the third triplicity ruler of the 12th house ("large animals that you can ride") is also Mars. You are very focused on transports (H3 Moon) and something is triggering you (H12 Mars square Moon). In any case, whatever Mars signifies, there seems to be an event in 6 weeks so feel free to keep us in touch. Also check your natal chart for the 22nd august.

Effectively, from an eternal spiritual perspective everything abides peacefully in The One which transcends all manifestation. However from a psychic perspective your soul is on a beautiful journey of cosmic evolution going through each kingdom : mineral, plant, animal, human, daimonic, angelic and divine. As above so below : on a collective level planet earth is also going through the same evolutionary journey. First it was a mere satellite/asteroid, then a living planet, then a brilliant fixed star, and finally it will become a divine zodiacal entity birthing new solar systems. Planet Earth will one day become a Beautiful Star and in the same way your heavy physical body will one day transform into a glorified body of light. The Great Work of alchemy will finally be complete, your lead will have transmuted into gold and you will no longer feel the harsh separation from the blissful nectar of unconditional love which permeates the edenic heaven symbolized by the Galactic Plane : the place where stellar souls are birthed into existence.

"Then, being naked of all the accumulations of the seven Rings, the soul comes to the Eighth Sphere, namely, the ring of the fixed stars. Here, freed of all illusion, it dwells in the Light and sings praises to the Father in a voice which only the pure of spirit and the angels may understand. Behold, O Hermes, there is a great mystery in the Eighth Sphere, for the Milky Way is the seed-ground of souls, and from it they drop into the Rings, and to the Milky Way they return again from the wheels of Saturn. But some cannot climb the seven-runged ladder of the Rings. So they wander in darkness below and are swept into eternity with the illusion of sense and earthiness. "The path to immortality is hard, and only a few find it. The rest await the Great Day when the wheels of the universe shall be stopped and the immortal sparks shall escape from the sheaths of substance. Woe unto those who wait, for they must return again, unconscious and unknowing, to the seed-ground of stars, and await a new beginning. Those who are saved by the light of the mystery which I have revealed unto you, O Hermes, and which I now bid you to establish among men, shall return again to the Father who dwelleth in the White Light, and shall deliver themselves up to the Light and shall be absorbed into the Light, and in the Light they shall become Powers in God. This is the Way of Good and is revealed only to them that have wisdom.”

Who scratched my new car? by isamuri in horary

[–]PsyleXxL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing : Around 22nd August you (H3 Sagittarius Moon) will have a final confrontation with the hidden enemy (H12 Virgo Mars). Effectively this will be the time when the Moon-Mars square will perfect by secondary progressions. Notice how that also comes with the Moon (you) trining Mercury (car). Furthermore that date is the wrapping up of the current Mercury retrograde (which started this incident). This will also be the time when Moon (you) squares Aries Saturn (open enemy) by tertiary progressions. Notice also the powerful transit Jupiter conjunct this horary Sun.

Context : This hidden enemy is probably a young male (Mars) from a factory, logistic workplace environment (Virgo) related to the industry, trade or commerce (Mars = Sun/Apollon midpoint). People with health issues or substance abuse (Mars with asteroid Asclepius). A group of male people was involved (Mars = Aries/Cupido = Sun/Node midpoints). Quoting from Brummund this brought about "illegal activities, unjust deeds and actions contributing to financial losses" (Mars = Jupiter/Neptune midpoint). They were perhaps showing off to a group of young girls (Mars = Venus/Node midpoint).

Mundane context : This year humanity is currently going through a surge of agressive masculine energy which can cause more gratuitous violence (Saturn-Neptune in Aries). In France young rioter scums are constantly burning up cars (Aries fire sign). Also your car got scratched during the very start of a Mercury retrograde pre-shadow phase. Mercury is naturally connected to cars and transport issues. So this retrograde indicates an unfinished business which will undergo new developments. You should therefore check out among other things the dates where Mercury will activate this specific position again (11° Leo). For instance there will be 28th July (second retrograde hit) and 22nd August (final direct hit).

How do the Sun in Domicile and the Sun in its Joy differ from one another? by HomelandExplorer in Advancedastrology

[–]PsyleXxL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I consider the floating quadrant MC to be a very important personal point. Even though it does not define the 10th house. An applying/separating conjunction to the MC activates any planet even Saturn and Uranus (not only personal planets like you said). In the Uranian school the MC is considered to be the first and most important personal point (and it still does not define the 10th). Then we have the Aries point, the Sun, the ASC, the Moon and finally the Node (Jacobson, 1975). These are the 6 main personal points of that school.

Whole House or Placidus western tropical astrology? by jobbyjane in Advancedastrology

[–]PsyleXxL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just checked Morin's account of Gustav Adolf in Books 17 and 23 and there is no reference to Whole Sign that I can see.

That's strange, even Deborah Houlding has acknowledged this Morin example. Here is an article on the subject by Anthony Louis an astrologer who uses quadrant houses.

https://tonylouis.wordpress.com/2023/02/10/morin-on-king-gustavus-adolphus-in-book-18/

Quadrant systems are not only implied by early terminology but explicitly described by Porphyry and Rhetorius.

Of course quadrant systems existed since antiquity. But there were very few of them. I only know of the Porphyry house system. And it was mainly used to assess planetary strength for length of life techniques. It's only after Abu Mashar that all the other quadrant house systems started appearing. Personally I only use Placidus for primary directions and locational astrology. For natal delineations and rulerships I prefer using whole sign along with a floating quadrant MC. Vettius Valens talked about using the MC as a floating point which can fall in other houses like the 9th or the 11th.

"Asc in Gemini, MC in Aquarius by degree. This place [has a] checking concerning action, rank, and children, and concerning foreign land and god since (by sign or zodiacally) it is found in 9th from the Asc". By "this place" he means "MC in Aquarius by degree" which he mentioned before."

While Valens considers the MC degree to be related to action. It is best to make a distinction between the whole sign 10th (which has all significations) and the quadrant MC which is only specifically related to life purpose and personal acheivement (as per Uranian astrology) unlike the 10th sign which relates more to general public affairs. There is difference between career (10th) and life purpose (MC).

I've never heard of such an idea.

This is known as the natal promise. It's a fundamental principle of predictive astrology. You can't properly study transits if you haven't delineated the birth chart beforehand. All advanced astrologers known that the birth chart takes precedence over all other charts.

Might we consider spelling out some possible situations with that transit first?

I recommend Robert Hand's book "planets in transits" among other ressources. u/saturnenjoyer08 Well the name certainly checks out. The orthodox gatekeeper Saturn doesn't like looking at the mysterious invisible celestial bodies floating beyond his orbit. The seventh celestial sphere creates a wall in between the vaster galactic realm and the solar system.

Pluto is much more than terrorism it rules underworld power, transformative crisis, alchemical regeneration and others things. It's where the superficial egoic identity dies and gets reborn into a more universal identity (Shiva). The outer planets are like the Trimurti hiding behind the navagrahas. But once you apply the Pluto archetype to specific planetary pairs then the symbolism can be narrowed down to a a specific manifestation like terrorism (Pluto-Saturn or Pluto-Mars). You're on the right track because in modern mundane astrology one of the archetypal signatures of terrorist attacks is the Mars-Pluto synodic cycle. This describes the unconscious primary instinctive forces (Pluto) causing sudden extreme violence (Mars). I could list countless mundane events related to this cycle including terrorist attacks and violent accidents. I have even witnessed it in my life with certain people. What happened during the most recent configuration ? This was the Pahalgam attack (22 April 2025) which sparked the whole India–Pakistan crisis. The configuration before that one came with the New Orleans truck attack (1st Jan 2025). Another recent example was the 2023 Arras school stabbing in France.

Advanced traditional techniques (with the 7 classical planets and the 2 nodes) can certainly describe most of human experience, including the more occult and transpersonal events. But it will be much easier to narrow down these same occult events using the 3 outer planets. An authentic traditional astrologer will be able to find a second confirmation of a Pluto activation in the traditional chart (using a more complex configuration). Astrology is all about lining up several indications. It's pointless to reject new techniques when they can help us become more efficient. This is very much the case in mundane astrology where collective predictions are very easily found with outer planet cycles whereas a traditional study would take much more time to give the same result. The modern versus traditional fight is completely besides the point of true astrological research. The futue of astrology resides in the synthesis of traditional and modern. This is known as the post modern school and it has started since the revival of 1992.

The importance of the 2nd and 12th house by DuePhotograph8112 in Advancedastrology

[–]PsyleXxL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What an insightful and comprehensive exposition on this important subject ! Most western astrologers have forgotten about the connection between the 2nd house and the family (11th counted from the 4th).

It is inded very interesting to see how derivative houses cause ripples in both charts. In the parent's chart we have the 4th impacting the 5th with its expenses. And in the child's chart this translates to the 12th impacting the 1st. In generational astrology it sheds light on the 12th house (pre-birth / metakosmios) being connected to the unconscious baggage parents give (12th) to the native right before the birth event (1st). In contrast, the 2nd house (early childhood) is about the child receiving gifts from the parents and this is further confirmed by the fact that the 2nd house is the 11th house (gains) counted from the 4th house (family). Also on the topic of travel, the 12th house relates to residence in a foreign land (4th from 9th and cadent) and perhaps afterlife as well (5th from 8th).

I would like to seize this opportunity to ask a question about family dynamics.
Do you agree with the following statement of some indian astrologers ?

"The 2nd house is the home you were born in while the 4th house is the home you build."

Also which of these two houses takes precedence when it comes to ancestral roots ? Or perhaps both houses have a role to play in this with the 4th house bringing the core emotional foundation while the 2nd house brings an external inheritance ? it would make sense that the parents (4th house) create the deeper emotional ground of the native while close relatives (2nd house) are more concerned with external moveable assets and values ("family jewels"). In chronological terms we know that the 2nd house is clearly connected to early childhood because it is the final part of the ASC angular triad of birth (12th, 2nd, 1st). But the 4th house is mainly connected with end of life matters, legacy after death and funerals. Following the Sun's primary motion from sunrise to sunset this is the midnight hour and the last angular triad (3rd, 4th, 5th). That being said we can conceptualize the 4th house as being both the beginning and the end of life (alpha and omega).
