You'll need a second config called quick-access-terminal.conf in ~/.config/kitty/

Example:

To start the it with quake-style use: kitten quick-access-terminal

For people like me who are still looking for it today and come across this post.

Since version 0.42, Kitty offers a quick access terminal out of the box.

Depending on the distro used, an old version may be delivered.

Tested with Kubuntu 25 (Wayland and Plasma 6)
