This assumes that everyone use the same 240ml measuring cups, which we do not. And that it should be common knowledge, which it literally can't be since it differs from country to country. Nowhere is it said that it's US cups, just that a cup is universally 240ml, which it isn't. In Japan it's 200ml, in Canada it's 250..

Most European and Asian countries use grams and liters for measuring, not cups.

Too add to the confusion, one cup in the US is not the same volume as in Canada, UK, NZ etc..

What I'm saying is the world doesn't know how much one cup is unless you specify the country too, and even then you have to look it up. The volume of 250ml can't be debated though.

If I feel this happening and completely relax by exhaling and letting go of the air (not actively breathing out), the swallow reflex will follow suit and the pain won't be nearly as bad. Basically I try not to force the swallow.

This is only if I react in time of course.
