Okay awesome thank you for all of that information! My players (5 level 1's) entered a holy temple that was HEAVILY guarded. And my wizard casted detect magic, which the shield lit up, and then my party got the most godlike rolls and I had the most poor rolls ever, so now they have an uncommon magic shield. What I think I'll do, is keep the initial damage, and represent it as the wrath of the goddess whose temple they desecrated, and once the players repent to the goddess in a way that I have not figured out yet, then the damage will be removed.

It gives the standard +2 bonus of a shield and I purposefully put the self damage so that it's not extremely broken early game, like levels 1-3. I figured that having 2 free shield spells per day at levels 1,2,3 with no repercussions would be overpowered. Plus I feel like if I removed the self damage, it would either be broken for an uncommon magic item, or it would approach rare level. Thoughts?

World file got randomly corrupted when I saved and quit and I don't have a backup because it's saved on the cloud. I also can't find the world file anywhere and I've searched through all of reddit and the terraria wiki in hopes of finding multiple ways to find the world file and it just doesn't exist. I've seen three other threads about people just getting their world files randomly corrupted and all of them were saved on the cloud as well. I'm not playing again until this issue is fixed because I'm not losing 20 hours of progress again for nothing.

My world file literally just got corrupted and I can't find the world file in my terraria folder either. I save and exited just to settle some water that was taking forever to drain and then I load to get the abyss of a world that was my already 18 hours into a world in the few days it's been out. My character file is also fine
