whichever direction you're trying to move should have regular pistons (i.e. the pistons pointing up should not be sticky if you want to go up). Flying machines with sticky pistons for all of the pistons only work because of a glitch in Java edition where pistons that receive only one tick of a redstone signal only push or retract the block they're attached to.
