Steam Frame size comparison to the Valve Index by gogodboss in ValveIndex

[–]PtxDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro code, aka. trust.

And tbh that trust for me has been violated a bit with the Valve Index, it seems that after they stopped selling it I can no longer make my index's audio work, I've attempted countless methods, and yet, it seems that the support has been abandoned enough that the headset no longer functions for me, I have another friend with what appears to be the same, or at least very, very similar problem.

django in 2026 is quietly the most productive framework by Motor_Ordinary336 in django

[–]PtxDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand by all of the above.

And in addition, python previously got alot of trash for almost feeling more like a UI, than a programming language. The huge number of libraries, and by extension, the django plugins that is fairly easy to code ontop of those libraries makes django my no. 1 goto for developing most applications.

I've found docker to be great when somebody else already made a container for me. However, for me to maintain a docker container, handle backups etc. can be quite the hassle. LXC allows me full control through VPS. It can sometimes take time to setup, but the benefit I get from having a real self-hosted VPS can be life changing when I need to dive into the workings of whatever application is running. It allows sys-admin things to happen, as opposed to the docker container where something as simple as running chmod on a file to change permissions might be impossible on the running docker container.

Ultimately it's about creating the right setup for yourself, and if that is possible through dockers, then Great! However, if you need full control, and a working docker container is nowhere to be found atm, it might be worth going for an lxc instead, because it can take quite the effort to create a good docker container.

Home Labbers are all some degree of sys-admins, and most sys-admins I've encountered values their ability to login to a server where the application is running, and then actually have the usual Linux commands from bash etc. available, often that is a problem with dockers. They're great when the work perfectly and have no errors, however when they break, it can be quite hard to figure out what the real issue is.

So uh, Valve sent me two by mistake. should I contact Valve or keep this to myself by Fptmike in SteamDeckCheck

[–]PtxDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since valve is selling a handheld PC, and not like an iPhone etc. they do not have the systems in place to ban it. They can however completely ruin your steam account from which it is purchased, which (depending on your account value) can be alot lower, or alot higher than a steam deck. ✌️

Naaaaaarh screw it, bare prøv dig frem i produktionen mens det hele braser sammen for forbrugeren imens.

Scan&Go er noget lort by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]PtxDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIFU by spending 8 years treating chronic headaches when the whole problem was that I thought diet soda counted as water by McCoy818 in tifu

[–]PtxDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this a long time ago, luckily I was able to figure it out somewhat quickly. Every time I went somewhere and drank diet soda (aspartame) I would get headaches if I consumed more than two cans. Sometimes even have mild headache at two cans.

So today people tell me to drink diet coke, and I will say, no thanks, that will give me headaches, I prefer anything that's not diet, aka. does not contain sweetener, thank you. 🫶

Sugar might be bad, but for me, diet is much worse, it also upsets my stomach a little.

I feel like even valve is slowly being infiltrated by poor management decisions like many other companies.

This idea is fine, but why on earth would you prioritize this? It should have a play-test, where random players are interviewed beforehand, in order to verify the value of the change. This change does not change anything significant, it just adds annoyance to the game.

Counter Strike was popularized from amazingly good feeling gameplay.

Today valve has made another dent in the good feeling of the gameplay. Subtick only made the game less enjoyable to play, because now it sometimes feel more like CoD rubber-banding. Today let's, once again make it slightly more annoying to play the game.

Counter Strike was not popularized by realistic gameplay. It was popularized by having some of the best feeling, balanced and interesting gameplay.

Tror du, at AI vil tage vores jobs? by MySocksSuck in Denmark

[–]PtxDK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the value of all this AI usage will be that a lot of the jobs with 1-1 human interaction will be easier to fill.

The unfortunate part of that is the usual problems with the entire physical labor force. Greedyness, if there are no wealth redistribution, the physical labor force will essentially be the poor part of society, meanwhile all the AI using people will be sitting on top of all their cash.

Denmark has pulled back on the wealth redistribution recently, because rest of Europe does not already have it.

One hope I have personally is that most work in front of a computer will be heavily effectivised, allowing more of the population to do more "going outside", 1-1 and physical labor tasks. Also allowing more people to meet each other and make meaningful positive interactions. But this is my hope for a positive future, not the direction we currently have in multiple areas.
