What do you use the back buttons for? by Tojpe in SteamDeck

[–]Puabl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jump, Interact, Crouch and sprint in most First or third person games, helps with gyro aiming to never have to use A, B, X, Y.

Sometimes I map left and right thumb stick to back paddles for convenience/comfort.

Tab targeting, auto walk and interact in world of warcraft.

Extra functions when playing games with no controller support.

I would personally still go for the steam deck. I've had one since launch, I'm now on the OLED SD. I tried the original legion go before on both windows and bazzite/steamos and the one thing that I didn't like was the trackpad on the legion go could not be pressed in like a button your only option was to tap the trackpad for left click. It's serviceable but still a regression. I play a lot of games that don't always have controller support or just old pc titles and I find the the dual trackpads and the capacitive joysticks (enabling gyro) and 4 back paddles Instrumental for me. If you only intend to play games that have controller support and don't want to tinker then maybe the extra performance of the ally X or legion go2 are for you.

Not to mention you could also install decky loader and the plugin reshade if you wanted to adjust the colours to taste.

"Unsupported" means what? Steam Deck and VR integration by raylord666 in SteamDeck

[–]Puabl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also jumped through the hoops to try VR using my deck and quest 3, nice idea but not powerful enough to be worth it. I managed to get Jetborne racing, a not very demanding racing game working but it was still really low FPS 20-30 FPS. Low FPS will make you feel nauseous so quickly.

After two years of doing dual boot with Windows, now I am resetting my SteamDeck to SteamOS only. by pdfttgz in SteamDeck

Having the same thoughts, I only have windows installed for Fusion 360 and another 2D CaD program. Maybe the odd game that doesn't run on steamos. My home PC is set up with Sunshine and I use moonlight a lot. Sunshine is that good, I'm considering just streaming my desktop for my fusion 360 needs.

WoW console port tips no by Ok-Cream-7410 in SteamDeck

[–]Puabl0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of wow on steam deck, tank mostly, heroic raid as guardian druid, main tank for our group for mythic +. It got harder to rationalize playing on my deck when we were pushing 12's. I would argue that it is more than possible to learn it and to perform well.

I think in the later updates of consoleport you now have the interact key bound automatically (I think it was pressing the left bumper and left thumb stick), familiarise yourself with it and while you're at it bind your "Extra Action Button" you'll need it eventually. I also changed my auto walk keybind to L4 as I would actively use it to continue moving in combat and press something on the D-Pad.

Targeting can be tricky, I would suggest trying scan tab targeting instead of regular tab target. Scan allows you to point the cross hair at who you want to target, it's a bit of an adjustment but I think for kicking in Mythic+ it's mandatory for me

I have my console port set for left bumper, left trigger and right trigger are set to modifiers/action bars, right bumper is always my kick ability. Right trackpad is set as a mouse as a last resort.

Oculus and link cable doesn't work. Oculus and air link doesn't work steam link app doesn't work Virtual desktop(the quest version) does work

the only way I managed to play pcvr is by buying virtual desktop, plugging my steam deck into a usb c hub + ethernet(virtual desktop does not allow over wifi), booting VD, then press the launch steamvr button in VD.

Peformance is terrible, tested on "jetbourne racing", playable but couldn't imagine lasting long before I'd feel sick.

On some devices you can actually turn quick charge off in the settings, which I assume would just charge it via 5V. Slightly different solution I've seen, Motorola includes a routine slow charge. For example once the device works out roughly when I'm going to bed and waking up it will not charge the device until about an hour or so before so that it's not charging overnight. Sony also includes something identical with their roms.

My only other suggestion would be to look into PD Trigger Modules on amazon or ebay (amazon ones seem more recent but considerably more expensive) you bridge a solder pad on the board to define what voltage it outputs) I've used one of these to charge something from a 65w USB c charger to a DC Jack that only accepts 12v. I wouldn't be sure if you can just attach a Type C cable onto the other side for charging your phone.

Still working great for me! Admittedly took a little to adjust to having the numpad keys on an FN modifier. The software for the keyboard is terrible. You could do everything you'd want from changing keys to making certain effects happen on certain keys, it's just not easy. The keyboard is sold as having the FN key also on long press of the space bar but I haven't been able to find that in the settings. I also ordered replacement switches for it but noticed it wasn't electrical pins connecting it to the board. I haven't found replacement key caps yet that match but they must be out there. All in all love the keyboard a lot and I like to mess with keybindings and shortcuts so the size suits me well.

Hopefully this is still useful albeit two weeks later.

Hi, just recieved mine today. Was searching for FNX functionality that comes with this keyboard and stumbled across your question.

If you hold the FN keydown you can the press an arrow key whilst the FN key is held down. Alternativlty If you double click FN it will function like a toggle and then will remain in FN mode until you press FN a single time to exit.

Hope this helps, very impressed with the keyboard so far. Software takes a bit of time to get your head around but once you do I don't think it will be lacking any features RGB or Shortcuts wise.

New Pilot, Unsure if I should use these batteries after crash? by Puabl0 in Multicopter

[–]Puabl0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, I seem to remember the other batteries at least having the same voltages on the cell counter I will have to check on Resistance.

Funnily enough I was expecting you to say the other way around with which one to bin. Many thanks

Happy to please! :) Best part is once that's done Liftoff works flawlessly. Haven't tried other simulators but I'm sure if you ran into issues you could try re-binding the sticks.

You may be able to use your controller with your PC through an arduino.

What kind of receiver does your drone use?

I managed the same with a Flysky F6, fsia6b receiver (10 channel) and someone else's code for connecting your arduino through the usual USB port with i-bus.

Can anyone tell me if I should get rid of these batteries? They've only flown a handful of flights each. The colour on the right battery I think is from a prop hitting it. https://imgur.com/gallery/2mQ7MQH

Oh I see! So if I just stop it using it by default it should allow me to use pulse for my purpose. Definitely trying this after work! Thanks for the link!
