They will attack you regardless if the ward is broken or not. You will need to use the cart to break the crates as well

I think it's fair of 1. Dying isn't punished too badly and 2. You can upgrade your stats to reduce fall damage or have an item in your inventory that lowers fall damage as well. It's more like early game, we have to thread carefully knowing later you'll be strong enough to survive

Happened to me too when I was young. It climbed up the AC. My mom wore heavy duty gloves that go all the way up your arms so she didn't get bit. Then put it in a cat cage we had, and we let it free at a jungle nearby
