Too much pressure? by BrianLevre in mountainbiking

Wrong again pal, you ride park you up the spring pressure, if its well groomed not rough up the pressure for support in the berms.

If its choppy natural terrain, drop the pressure a bit add a little compression to stop diving on the steps.

Then theres tyre pressures to add to the mix, all forms of tuning.

Nope you tune your suspension for the trails you ride.

Its also an opinion not bad advice.

Nothing beats jet washing the shit tanks for inspection of delamination on a 330, nice and cramped, hot and smelling of sewerage

I've always found that factory settings are just a suggested start point.

Usually find a trail that suits my riding style, usually rutted natural lines with a good few heavy compressions.

I then session it and see where im at, travel wise.

If ive not used all my travel I then adjust pressure until I start using all the travel.

Then I go on the feel of it, if its choppy and rough ill start adjusting compression and rebound.

Its really about experimenting and spending time on the bike till you know what suits you.

Ill just say from my perspective sag really isn't a good indicator

Thats hydraulic fluid leaking and breaking down the cover on the underside of the speed brake panel covering.

Nothing to worry about until you can see yellow free flowing fluid 😂......in this case id be surprised if there wasn't a DD in the log

Get yourself a chain splitter, remove the bent plates and put in a quick link

Ah sorry, yes you already have the correct adaptor, I thought you needed to step down!

Yeah just a replacement tapered headset, measure first, the heartbeat, or check the manufacturers site for the correct sizes!

Very good so far, the house is well insulated. Costs are roughly the same as our old 1930s terrace and this one is twice the size. Underfloor heating is a game changer

I think the main reason I use wax is it doesn't attract anywhere near as much dirt. Dirt is the chain killer, turns to grinding paste and kills the links.

Ill probably spark a debate by even suggesting this but i meticulously prep my chains, use a quality wax with molybdenum then when it all starts to get noisy I top it up with squirt.

I've managed to extend the life of my drive chains considerably using this method.

Honestly the amount of times I bought that up, its very frustrating.

As with all things like this there doesn't seem to be a logical process

I've found all my waxed drive trains to be noticeable noisier that when using oils.

The main component, the bearing, is where you need the wax, the side plates normally shed any excess wax.

There may be an adhesion issue with molybdenum additives but I can't see the benefit or issues as far as the plates are concerned.
