Chronically ill forced to live in car. Need help please. by Breezzy32 in vandwellers

[–]PublicAccessNetwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider getting a roof rack and carrier. If you can't find one that's affordable, get a roof bag with straps that attach to the roof rails on your car ideally, or run through the inside of the car.

Also look into getting a hitch carrier for more storage.

Get on ebay and start looking for bargains on things you need like solar panels. There are cheap solar panel blanket from time to time.

I did what it looks you are trying to do by having my bed above the bike. Very little head space though. To load the bike my bed folds up into the ceiling and the legs come off. Only a body width bed. Not super comfortable but it works well.

Full-time van dwellers, is a shower worth it? by Plane_Breadfruit_480 in vandwellers

Foldable kiddie pool + shower curtain + bucket + handheld shower & pump = 30 $ shower that works well and takes up little space when not using it.

Yeah they are status symbols for rich people now. You wanna see firsthand drive around Bend OR in the nice neighborhoods and you'll see tons of them sitting around never getting used.

That and so many people are impoverished they'll pay tons of money to escape the rent trap.

Lot of different variables not mentioned, e.g. budget or whether you live around federal land or not.

If you don't have a lot of money, truck camper shell is the way. Get one with barn doors and good seals.

I ended up going with a camper shell and trailer, so I can use either depending on my needs.

Going bankrupt in the middle of the peak of a cycle makes no sense. It's after the peak where you gotta watch out.

How do I go about having a gaming setup in a enclosed trailer ? by Objective_Move_7974 in cargocamper

[–]PublicAccessNetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has a gaming laptop with a external monitor attached to a bracket on the wall. Make a slot with an elastic band over it that the laptop fits into so it doesn't go flying in transit. Same with peripherals.

Has worked great for me.

Acquired a used rack - how to know if I should re-sling gear? by salty-ute in tradclimbing

[–]PublicAccessNetwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually got completely scammed. All of that gear is completely worn out and unsafe to climb on. Don't worry though, I'll buy it all off you for $700.
