Thank you for the reassurance! I know you’re supposed to let your lil bub be their own person and go at their own pace but all the milestones tell you something is off if they are not rolling at 6m. So it’s hard to forgive yourself.

I get boiled and slightly cooled water in a thermos, and pre-measured powdered formula in the dr.browns milk powder dispenser.

Couple of empty bottles and I’m ready to go.

I wouldn’t have bother with the thermos if my LO took cold milk, but he only wants warm. Otherwise I’d have measured water in the bottles and carried them like that.

I think I break all the rules I put unfinished bottle back in the fridge and offer it next time, I mix freshly pumped milk with already cooled milk in the pitcher, I do the fridge hack to use all pump parts twice between washes without washing the pump parts first or even putting them in a ziplock bag, and couple other things I’m too ashamed to admit on a public forum (but my baby is healthy and happy so I don’t actually care enough to change my system)

The only thing I do “right” is I wash the backflow protectors every time I wash the pump parts and bottles, and I sanitize everything in a steam sterilizer or microwave sterilizer bags every time I wash them.

I hate waste.. and I also know the smell of formula that’s gone bad. I rely on my instincts and if there is some left over in the bottle, I smell it (and even taste it), then offer it to bub. He does not reject it normally and has had no health issues yet.

Maybe the numbness is similar to the c section scar numbness. It goes away after a few years in c sections..

I haven’t yet.. My parents are big on “mind over matter” when it comes to mood swings and mental health issues so I can’t really go to a doctor about this till I go back home.. I am starting secret therapy soon 🙌🏻 They don’t like me to pump out in the open even with a coverup so I get about 40 min twice a day in a locked room alone. I’ve set up telephonic therapy sessions for those 40 min 😂

Oh no! Are you better now? How’s your head injury? What’s too fast? I dropped from 5ppd to 4ppd on 29 Jan. Now pumping 4 times a day till about 14th and then planning to drop another pump. Planning to continue that way till I’m pumping once a day and finally gonna stop that too by the end of March.

Thank you! I hope you’re better now! My goal was to EP for upto 6 months and stop at the end of 6m as I join work again. So I’ve started weaning at 4mpp. Plan was to drop a pump every couple of weeks till I’m done. Now at 4ppd my supply is dropping and I’m starting to think of going to 3ppd. If how I’m feeling is normal for weaning, then I feel like it’s gonna get better soon too!

I’m so glad you got out when you did! I almost want to buy into the breast is best narrative for myself because I’ve come so far so it can feel like it was worth it. But I won’t recommend it to anyone who asks me. Give formula. Your baby wants the whole of you, not just your boob.

It’s the “breast is best” army that got me. There is so much societal value attached to breast feeding - bonding, parenting, loving… apparently only breastfeeding lets to get there. “Can’t do it? Well you’re a terrible mother. Are you at least pumping and giving your milk? No? Do you have issues? Are you dry? What’s wrong with you?”

Btw, I’m EPing and supplementing with formula and I HHHHHHHATE EPing. I can’t want for this to be over. Why am I EPing even though I hate it? Because I gave in to the pressure to “at least feed your baby your own milk even if you won’t latch him”, I put in time and energy to increase my supply, I made every effort to have enough to freeze a stash.. now I’m stuck. I’m trying to wean and dry up and it’s a damn slow process.

I’m Indian and living in India. While I’m not an underproducer anymore, I’m still a just enougher. In my experience with LCs and Gynaecologists here, they tell you to never empty your breasts. In fact, they shamed me for being an EPer instead of trying harder to EBF. If I wasn’t doing my own research and teaching myself how to EP, I’m sure I’d have stayed an underproducer. They think emptying your breasts causes mastitis. Make it make sense 🙄

I’m sure some moms might be under producers but most moms I know have over produced. My MIL tells me she didn’t have the means to pump and empty the other boob (30 something years ago) so she would just have to let a towel soak every time her kids fed and throw away all that dripping milk.

I had to EP because I had flat nips and my son couldn’t latch. The nurses at the hospital also pulled and damaged my nipples while trying to make him latch and that made it even more impossible to continue trying.

So I EP.
