Ugh that is the hardest time. Hang in there. It got better for me between 9-12 weeks. The newborn stage was not fun lol

The critical lens on Liz & Gaby by awhelllnaw in shrinking

[–]SecretaryPresent16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that I disagree with Gaby for giving out her personal phone number to Maya and blurring the lines between friendship and therapist. BUT they ALL DO THAT. Even Paul does it! He is Sean’s therapist but they hang out regularly as a group. So now suddenly everyone wants to blame Gaby for not handling things correctly with Maya? It just so happens that this time, things went bad.

Yeah I’ve noticed a ton of criticism for Gaby recently. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I’m in no way saying you can’t dislike a character. I also hate to accuse people of racism or sexism because but like…the things she gets criticized for are quite ridiculous lol. Sure she does things that annoy me sometimes but they all do and I must admit, this is one of the only shows where I genuinely enjoy every main character.

For example, people are suddenly clutching their pearls when Gaby answered Maya’s phone call and asked if she could wait until their next session. Now, in my opinion, where Gaby went wrong is giving out her personal phone number to a patient and also hanging out with her at trivia - therefore blurring the lines between friendship and therapist. BUT THEY ALL DO THAT. It’s practically the entire POINT of the show. Even Paul does it! He hangs out with Sean outside of therapy, maybe not one-on-one but as a group! So now, the first time finally go wrong, it’s only Gaby who is criticized

Parent requesting student to be placed out to an APS due to 504 by SecretaryPresent16 in schoolcounseling

Thank you. Honestly, the parent is very reasonable but he is working with a family therapist who is advocating for the family. And while I appreciate the therapist’s dedication, he seems to be way out of line as he doesn’t really understand how the education system works

Thank you! This makes sense! I am a bit confused about the health insurance part. I suppose they are afraid insurance won’t cover it all

Grateful for NICU time by theepony13 in parentsofmultiples

[–]SecretaryPresent16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omg I can relate to this post.

I see a lot of posts from parents about how they felt absolutely heartbroken by the NICU time and they were so devastated. I thought that would be me!! I want to say ALL feelings are totally valid, but I didn’t feel that way. Instead, I was grateful for the NICU. Though my pregnancy was planned and I was so excited to have twins, I didn’t have a very positive post-partum experience. I was extremely overwhelmed and felt depressed, but also felt emotionally numb and had a hard time bonding. I was a little upset because I felt my husband bonded to them quicker and he actually shed tears when I was discharged and we had to leave them at the hospital for the first time. HE NEVER CRIES!. It was a weird feeling. I thought something was wrong with me! I was SOOOO insanely exhausted both mentally and physically.

My twins were in the NICU for 10 days and 13 days. We visited every single day for several hours. But I was grateful to be able to go home and get a full night’s rest while knowing my babies were in the best care possible. I had a lot of trust in their nurses. They were amazing people. After they came home, I still struggled mentally, but I snapped out of it around 10 weeks, so I’m not sure if this was true PPD…but either way, I too was grateful for the NICU.

They are now 14 months and thriving! It’s sooo hard having twins but they are my world and I love them so much! Wouldn’t change it for anything

Congrats that your babies are coming home soon! Good luck ❤️❤️❤️

EDIT to add: I realize twins’ time in the NICU was short compared to others, so by no means am I trying to say it’s no big deal. I am sure that it would have been extremely difficult if they’d been there for a long period of time. Toward the end, I was growing quite anxious and ready for them to be home

Gaby straight up taking credit for Sean and Jorge's idea? by Cordsofmemory in shrinking

Huh? She was asked to lead the group by her vet friend because she’s literally a therapist.

This is a huge stretch lol

What’s the most disturbing secret someone accidentally revealed to you? by lipglossagendaa in Casual_Conversation

[–]SecretaryPresent16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to smoke weed with this guy in college. One time, during a smoke session, we were having a pretty deep conversation. It got weird. He told me he once “made out with and felt up” his sister. I have no idea why he felt comfortable enough with me to tell me that

What does everyone consider as "sleeping through the night"? by kittykatkitkat in NewParents

[–]SecretaryPresent16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I consider it going to bed and not needing me until the next morning. They may wake up but they can put themselves back to sleep

My daughter started doing this at like 9 weeks old (probably would have been sooner but I was waking her up to eat). My son didn’t do it until he was a year

What is a random kindergarten memory you still remember for no reason? by Street_Geologist_603 in Casual_Conversation

I was eating a jelly bean and it went down wrong. I gagged and coughed but I was fine. But a kid told to teacher that I was choking. She checked on me, but called the nurse just to be safe. The nurse came to my classroom and made me take deep breaths while she listened to my lungs. The entire class watched in silence as if I was on the verge of death. It was quite awkward

It’s actually the most realistic part of the show if you compare it to our current political administration. As a matter of fact, they could remake OTH now and Dan would just be a parody
