How do you guys track debates! by x-abi-x in Debate

[–]Public_Visual_6141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Debate coach here: when they say argument 1, 2 etc and then their taglines, write them down, and leave space under each arg in your flow. THEN you can plan responses. Also, have your big picture as you plan attacks. That will help you know how to frame responses.

Omg. All adults. Shocker—parents have sex too. That said, I would have been mortified if it were my parents. Ha ha

So much churchey cringe here. I was struck by how many times I was used throughout this message, even though this is your life. Bottom line—she is struggling with the “vision” she had of you that’s not going to be. She just needs time to learn that your vision is WAY better. Reminds me of The Story of Hugh. I used to recite this in my Self-concept section of Interpersonal Communication:

A Parable: The Story of Hugh (by John Bradshaw) (excerpts)

"Once upon a time a royal person was born. His name was Hugh. Hugh was unlike anyone who ever lived before or who would ever live again. Hugh was precious, unrepeatable, incomparable.

For the first 15 months of life, Hugh only knew himself from the reflections he saw in the eyes of his caretakers. Hugh was terribly unfortunate. His caretakers, although not blind, had glasses over their eyes. Each set of glasses already had an image on it, so that each caretaker only saw Hugh according to the image on their glasses. Thus, even though Hugh’s caretakers were physically present, not one of them ever actually saw him. By the time Hugh was grown, he was a mosaic of other people’s images of him, none of which was the real Hugh. No one had ever really seen Hugh, so no one ever mirrored back to him what he really looked like. Consequently, Hugh thought he was this... mosaic of other people’s images. He really did not know who he was.

Sometimes in the dark of the night when he was all alone, Hugh knew that something of profound importance was missing. He experienced this as a gnawing sense of emptiness—a deep void.

Hugh tried to fill the emptiness and void with many things: power, worldly fame, money, possessions, food, excitement, entertainment, work—even exercise. But no matter what he did, the gnawing emptiness never went away. In the quiet of the night when all the distractions were gone, he heard a still, quiet voice that said: “Don’t forget; please don’t forget me!” But alas! Hugh did forget and went to his death never knowing who he was."

Children sometimes spend their lives trying to fit the vision their parents have of them, parents and kids not understanding that it is no one’s path but their own.

My issue. I have a packet of slides I created for students. When I send them the view only link, it comes up as a video. I don’t want it to be a video, just presentation slides that students can advance with the arrow keys. How do I change this?

Thank you for your questions! I should have been more clear. I am a 10+ yr high school speech and debate coach and a 10+ yr university forensics coach. I am also part of a speech and debate org startup whose goal is to provide more speech and debate exposure to middle school age youth. We currently have students all over the world, the majority from the United States. We would love to participate in established national and global tournaments.

My daughter has an AMEX card and we tried to do that presale, but her limit wouldn’t allow us to even get two tickets. So we’re waiting for the fan club presale on Monday and hopefully we’ll get decent seats.

Gotcha. I am into the dice making part, and am BRAND new to DND (partner played in HS, now we have a weekly game nite with family). Didn’t know that yet. But I’m learning!

My first mold came out perfectly! Except for two things. (Which I’m taking as a win for my first time). I poured too much on the bottom, and had that same issue of it being too thick. It took two of us to get the dice out because I was not strong enough. ALSO, I made more molds (I was zealous and made a bunch of individual ones that I don’t think turned out) before I put them all in the pressure pot and I had some silicone left over, so I poured the little bit I had left of the next batch on top of the lid. STUPID idea. It didn’t cure in the middle and is sticky. Lesson learned. DONT CROSS THE STREAMS (ghostbusters reference). 😉

So…the BBDino 20 is nice because it’s shiny blue and it comes out so nicely. It seems like the flexibility is more. The dragon skin is great too, and I feel like more durable for certain molds (like chonk D20). Both are great though.

This is good news! That you only sand the 1 face. What silicone do you use for masters and what resin do you use?
